With Dick Page as the artistic director, Shiseido The Makeup‘s spring 2008 collection is looking fresh and colorful. (On the Shiseido website, the collection is billed as a (Dick Page) “inspired collaboration”.) While there are no new product designs, this is a visually very pleasing collection, from the shade selection to the ad image.

The collection includes:

— Hydro-Powder Eye Shadow: 4 new shades (seen below)
— Shimmering Lipstick: 4 new shades
— Multi-Shade Enhancer: 2 shades, Terra-Cotta Glow and Sunset Glow (Sunset Glow is a limited-edition item from summer 2007 and is now a regular product.)

I have tested Hydro-Powder Eye Shadow in H10 Languid Lagoon at the counter. The actual color is darker than what we see in the image above. It also looks greener and is less aqua-ish. I have to say, for me personally, it looks slightly better on the website and in magazine pages.

I might not pick up any item from this collection, but I will still look forward to more creations from the master.

I’m confused aren’t these colors already available?

On a different vein, I notice lately as I get older I lean towards cream! Very strange considering I am a self described hater of cream shadows!

ah scratch that just looked and indeed the colors are new yet they seem so like colors already in the collection!

I do like the fact that they are pastels as you know collections have been very dark and dramatic this year so the look of a soft pink or gold is nice!

*mwah*
Happy Friday!

This is very fresh looking! I’ve been on a neutral kick lately and now I find I miss colour. Yay for Spring.

Hi The Muse,

I had the same question when I first saw the eyeshadow shades, only to realize that they were indeed new shades.

Indeed, soft shades are good additions to this year’s spring lineups!

I do use liquid/cream eyeshadows from time to time and I generally like them. I tend to like the texture to be more liquidy (a bit like the Beauté de Kosé ones you have) rather than the very thick ones (like MAC’s Paint Pots and Bobbi Brown’s cream eyeshadows).

Thank you for stopping by again! :)

Hi Psychoexgirlfriend,

Very fresh looking indeed. The colors are generally quite wearable. I like the ad image very much as well.

Hey PJ!

I’m very tempted to get these. I haven’t tried they Hydro Powders and I’m generally curious how they are. And I’m loving the shades. Very Spring-Like.

I love the Dior Show Cream Shadows and I’m chalking these up as maybe the same quality but cheaper!

I enjoy more of a liquid as well such as the BdK and Visee’s Aqua Shining Eyes. Not too liquidy but enough thickness to make application and blending simple.

MAC PP’s get my thumbs down as you probably know from reading my blog. Too much tugging involved :P

Love ya!

Hi The Muse,

If you do get to test the Hydro-Powder, let me know what you think about the texture.

As far as I can remember now, the texture is a little thick and I think Dior Show’s cream shadows seem slightly easier to blend. But this is from my vague memories of both at the moment. I will probably check both out again later.

I like the more liquidly cream eyeshadows as well. Even though I haven’t had that many of them, they always seem quite blendable when I test them at the counter.

I am not sure if you have tried Jill Stuart’s Jelly Eye Color. I have never tried them, but they have been quite popular.

hey honey

I’ll let you know. I was headed to Sephora after work yesterday but I was too tucked out so I headed straight home!

I was going today but it’s now pouring outside :P

But will do soon!

I’ve wanted to try JS’s jelly eyes for the longest but haven’t indulged. Iris tells me they aren’t so easy to blend and contain quite a bit of chunky glitter. I may order a few out of curiosity now that you mentioned it!

They get huge raves all around with many of the cozy crowd!

Hi The Muse,

I see. I don’t have any first-hand experience with Jill Stuart’s Jelly Eye Colors. One thing that concerns me is that the shimmering particles seem to be indeed on the chunky side, according to some of the photos I have seen.

They are surely quite popular, but I think I will only decide to plunge in when I have a chance to see them in person.
