Turquoise Delight – Dior Eyeshadow Duo in DiorLagoon

(Dior Eyeshadow Duo in DiorLagoon)

I started this blog in November 2006. If I had started it several months earlier, many of my initial posts would have probably been about finding the best turquoise eyeshadow for myself.

That was a major quest in the summer of that year. I got Dior’s Seascape a couple of months earlier. While loving the purple and the blue, I decided I wanted a nice turquoise. Not a soft pastel turquoise…a real turquoise. So the search began.

I soon found that many turquoise shades had yellow and/or green shimmer. While I see how it balances the blue undertone of the shade and makes the finish more dynamic, I think it is a little distracting, and I really just wanted a nice straightforward rich turquoise. (Bourjois’ Mono Eyeshadow in Turquoise Ensoleillée is one that has the yellow/green shimmer that doesn’t appeal to me.)

After auditioning many turquoise contenders during that time, I found myself going back to Dior.

Apart from the fact that Dior’s eyeshadows are consistently silky and easy to blend, I like the satiny finish in the eyeshadow duo range. DiorLagoon features a cream white with soft pearlescent sheen and a semi-matte turquoise which is slightly more matte than the cream white. It is a true turquoise with no trace of yellow/green shimmer. Both shades are nicely pigmented and last well.

It has become my gold standard for turquoise shades as it still remains one of the nicest I have ever seen.

I LOVE Dior shadows. Period. If I’ve an unlimited budget, I would’ve spent all my money on their shadows.

BTW, I love your posts :)

I am loving all things Dior lately … a new love for me. Especially the flower compact it is so pretty …

Did you try the Clarins eyeliner from two years ago in Turquoise Flash? I use it sparingly to make it last longer. It is the most amazing eyeliner I have ever owned. I have heard they are coming out with an even better one for Summer or Fall … it isn’t in their Spring line.

Hi PJ,
I’ve purchased Bourjois eyeshadow at the end instead of Lunasol.
I’ve purchased wet and dry eye shadow in the colour of Green Black and also Pale Lilac.

Dear PJ,

I am also a fan of turquoise eye shadow. My complexion has a yellow undertone. Turquoise with too much green and/or yellow undertone doesn’t look good on me if I don’t apply a light base color on the eyes first. Without application of light base color, it couldn’t truly reflect its real color on the eyes.

There were couple times I was passing by Dior counters. I felt like to try Eyeshadow Duo in DiorLagoon. (For some reason,I have had a feeling that you might have this one.) I think I will try it out at the department store soon.

Thanks a lot for the great review!

Best,

BA

Funny you should mention Dior and turquoise shadows as my absolute favourite is Sunny Turquoise of their Mono Eyeshadow line. I wear it almost everyday! Although DiorLagoon is more turquoise, I still needed something a little more intense, which was why I was ecstatic when Sunny Turquoise came out for their fall 2007 collection. However, I do understand your meaning as Sephora does report it to be a “golden turquoise” and in most lights, particularly darker ones, it appears green. But I will say that in brighter light or if I was pairing the colour off with another colour such as lilac, it really brings out to be true turquoise.

Hi Geekchic,

I do really love Dior eyeshadows as well. The texture and the finish are usually exceptionally good!

Thank you for your kind words and for posting your thoughts again! :)

Hi Critty,

The Spring 2008 Flower Blossom compact is indeed pretty. It is very multi-purpose too…

I didn’t try Clarins’ Turquoise Flash, but it sounds good. I will definitely keep an eye on their new eyeliners later this year.

Thank you for posting your comment. Hope to hear from you again! (By the way, I am enjoying watching your videos…:))

Hi CC,

Thank you for telling me! I think I looked at Pale Lilac not too long ago too!

Hope you will enjoy wearing both of them. I’d love to know what you think about the lilac shade…

Thank you for stopping by again! :)

Dear BA,

My complexion has more of a pink undertone. Between blues and greens, somehow blues suit me better. With turquoise, I also think the ones with more of a blue undertone suit me a little better.

I have mentioned in my review of MAC Alexander McQueen’s Haunting that I have DiorLagoon. Perhaps you remember it from there…which would be quite remarkable memory…:)

If you get to try DiorLagoon, do let me know how you would compare it with Haunting!

Thank you for posting your comment again!

Best,

PJ

Hi Ebontien,

Yes, I remember testing Sunny Turquoise from the fall 2007 collection. Indeed for me, it was a little bit on the green side, but overall it is still one of the nice turquoise shades I have tried across various brands. I am not surprised that you love it!

Again, we are talking about turquoise and lilac. I should really start to experiment them together!

Thank you for posting your view again! :)
