Coffret D’Or has updated its website with information on the late summer/ early fall collection. (Please see my previous post for some quick detail and a link to swatches.) It is another beautiful collection, with lipsticks, eyeliners, and eyebrow pencils, but my eyes have been drawn to the new Trance Deep Eyes palettes.

First, let’s remind ourselves of 3D Lighting Eyes, released in December 2007:

01 Pink Variation
02 Blue Green Variation
03 Silver Variation
04 Purple Variation
05 Gold Variation

Now check out the new variations:

01 Rose Variation
02 Blue Variation
03 Khaki Green Variation
04 Grey Variation
05 Beige Variation

I think I am definitely going to try the new palette series, but the question is which one I want. Or, to be precise, which ONES?

This time, no single palette is jumping out at me, and I am liking three at the moment. After looking at the swatches, I have been lured by Rose, Grey, and Beige Variations. Here are my initial thoughts:

Rose Variation: The top-right shading color looks similar to the cool dusty pink in my Purple Variation, which is one of my recent favorite eyeshadow shades. I would love to try the new palette to see how everything works.

Grey Variation: My first reaction is that it looks similar to my Maquillage Clean Contrast Eyes in SV844, which I like. But there are differences. Maquillage SV844 has a medium grey, which Grey Variation doesn’t have. Also, from the swatches, it seems that the lilac is very slightly warmer than that in SV844. This could be my next lilac palette!

Beige Variation: I am happy with my Gold Variation and my Summer Gradually Compact from Lavshuca, but the top-right soft taupe seems lovely and far from plain. The bottom-left peach gold is not usually one of my favorite colors, but I think it will be on the sheer side and can work well with the cool taupe.

At the moment, my favorite is Rose Variation. But I can’t let go of the soft lilac, and I am still in my mini neutral phase.

Will I be getting all three? You will have to find out later!

Which one is appealing to you at the moment?

Hello PJ,

The Grey variation was the first one that caught my eye. It also seems like an interesting and unique color combination. It would be nice to do a soft smokey look with the green as an outer V color if it’s pigmented enough.

Hi Lyn,

They do look lovely, all of them…:) It is quite hard to choose what to pick up…

Thank you for your comment! :)

Hi lDeelDee,

Great to hear from you again!

I’d think the lilac (I don’t think it is green in the Grey Variation) should be relatively pigmented and could be a good (but not overly dramatic) shadowing color. We’ll see. :)

Thank you for sharing your thoughts again! :)

Hi PJ,

I am attracted to the rose and blue variations, but it seems to me that the rose variation is too much like the old purple palette that I already own… can’t wait for reviews on the product!

Just from the photos, I think this line is less shimmer and shiny than the eyeshadow last time.

Hi XY,

I agree with you. Rose variation does look like Purple Variation from spring. But I like Purple Variation a lot so I am very tempted to get this one and see how it works. I will definitely review it if I do get it.

Thank you for your comment again! :)

Hi CC,

I do wonder about the level of shimmer of these new variations. I am quite sure I will get at least one of them, and I will certainly compare the level of shimmer in my review.

Thank you for commenting again! :)

i’ve wanted to get the pink n gold from 3D lighting, but now the new palettes will be out soon, i am thinking of getting rose n beige. both are more or less of the same colour, which now leaves me a bit difficult to decide. which do you think is better? my budget aren’t too big to accommodate all of them. :P

cheers,

Hi Plue,

I haven’t tried Pink or Beige, so I am not really able to give personal suggestions. But it seems that Rose is slightly warmer than Pink. When I post my review of it, do compare it with Pink. If I come across comparison of these two palettes, I will certainly let you know as well.

As for Gold and Beige, it seems that Beige is considerably cooler and that Gold is definitely more vibrant. There is a very good swatch comparison here if you are interested. (You might have seen this already.)

I think Beige is different from Gold enough for me to consider buying, but I am still deciding whether I want one more neutral palette. If I do decide to get it, I will certainly review it on my blog.

So, I think, in terms of Pink and Rose, it depends on whether warmer/cooler tones suit you better. Between Gold and Beige, I think it depends on whether you prefer yellow/gold-based neutrals or cool/ashier ones.

Hope it helps a little bit. Thank you very much for your comment again, and do keep me posted if you have any other question. :)

thank you very much for the link for comparison of gold and beige!

after looking at the swatch, i like gold better, beige is a bit too cool/ dirty looking >_< , but makes a good neutral palette though. gold is more towards a glam look, while beige is somewhat of a very neutral n safe colour if the working environment for dressing is strict. oh dear, i somewhat feel that the gold is similar to kate’s glam trick either the GD-1 or BR-1 palette. Shucks, BR-1 is sold out here for kate! >_< wonder how rose n pink fares? hm… cheers,

Hi Plue,

You are welcome! :)

I agree with you on the Gold/Beige. I have Gold myself, which I am very happy with, and I can probably do without the Beige. But I am still considering it. I guess I do want to see their actual differences in person. If I do get the Beige, I will certainly review it on my blog.

Thank you very much for stopping by my blog again! :)

Hi PJ!!

First, I want to thank you for doing your blog. I am a bit fan of Japanese cosmetics and it’s great to see you someone so passionate about it and expressing it. I love reading your blog and excited for all the newsfeed!!!

I just came back from Tokyo and bought a lot of makeup. How is your Coffret items treating you? One of the items that I picked up was Coffret D’Or Trance Deep Eyes in 05, Beige Variation. I love all the colors in it except for the darkest shade on the bottom right. Other colors are beautiful and shimmery. I’ve noticed it’s more gray than beige on. To replace the darkest shade, I will probably use Chanel’s Cinnamon eyeshadow for the accent color instead. For some reason, Coffret’s accent colors always dissapointed me. I am currently waiting for Rose variation to come.

Lastly, VOCE (August issue) had a top ranking of mid year cosmetic goods. The eye shadow was Lunasol’s Sheer Contrast Eyes 04 (Green Coral.) I had to get the shadow after seeing this, and I must say the colors from the palette is really gorgeous on and perfect for this season.

Sorry for my long message!

Morning PJ!

I am very very much in love with Coffret’s Pink & Gold from 3D Lighting! Absolutely gorgoeus! I’ve seen them in Kanebo’s counter, and my, it’s beautiful!

Oh, T’estimo hasn’t really been gone yet, I’ve managed to get 2 of their palettes. Was wondering have you heard of Layered Impact and Gradually Eyes? I tried Layered Impact, and love it to bits! No creasing and no fading after like 15 hours of wearing, and with no primer or anything as a base. :P

Now i am totally sad for T’estimo to be gone. :( I’m gonna get their Grande Shine and Frame Impact ASAP while I still can!

cheers,
plue

Hi Roxiest,

Thank you very much for reading my blog and for your comment.

It is great to know that you got many makeup goodies while you were in Tokyo. From the swatches I saw of Beige Variation, it does seem that the neutral tones in this palette are more towards the cool side. I think, between the two, the Gold Variation I have probably suits me better, but I am still considering trying Beige Variation.

I have been enjoying using my two Trance Deep Eyes palettes. So far I am liking one more than the other. I will say more in my main posts later. :)

I got the August Voce as well and I have been looking through the rankings. I tend to pay a little more attention to makeup rankings than skincare ones. While people tend to have quite different skincare needs, good-quality makeup items are for all to enjoy. :)

Thank you again for your comment. Hope you will enjoy all your new makeup from Japan and hope to hear from you again! :)
