Escada‘s Moon Sparkle (eau de toilette) is a light and fresh scent for the summer. It reminds me of the abundance of colorful and flavorful summer fruit, which spices up a warm and languid evening.

Top notes
: strawberry, blackcurrant, citrus accord, red apple
Middle notes: freesia, jasmine, rose, sweet pea
Base notes: musk, raspberry, sandalwood, amber

The scent opens with a combination of sweetness and a citrusy vibe. The zingy sensation is tamed by the sweetness of strawberry. Initially I found the combination too sweet but it has been growing on me. I think, overall, fruity sweetness does appeal to me a little more than floral sweetness.

The middle notes show up very mildly on me, as the core floral notes seem to blend well with each other and with the top fruity notes.

My favorite part of the fragrance is how it dries down. Musk, sandalwood, and amber are obviously common choices for base notes, but the inclusion of raspberry makes a good deal of difference. The fresh fruity flavor of this fragrance continues to the end, and the air smells as if there were fresh berries in a glass fruit bowl.

Moon Sparkle might not appeal to those who seek depth in a fragrance and who want to travel through the flow of the notes. But I think it is a successful summer fragrance as it is light-hearted and invokes a sense of refreshment. It is a very pleasant and easy-to-wear scent for your beach excursions and for capturing the feel of summer.

hi darling!

this EDT sounds lovely!

was wondering do you have any good recommendation of Japanese brands perfumes which smells refreshingly sweet/ light sweet kind? Something like Escada Sunset.

Wanna get my hands on those perfumes I’ve always seen on magz like Angel heart, happyholic those kind but have no idea on what it smells like or where to get reviews for them. >_< hope you can help~~~ regards,

My friend collects Escada and i think this one will end up there soon. I haven’t tried it yet (well, I haven’t seen it yet here in Finland) but I will as soon as I catch it somewhere.

Hi 心。葵,

So far the only fragrance by a Japanese brand (I am including Anna Sui and Paul & Joe) that I like is AYURA’s Spirit of AYURA. It is not really a sweet scent. It is more of a light and refreshing scent. For me, it is a great wake-me-up fragrance that is uplifting but not overwhelming.

It seems that it has been one of AYURA’s top-selling products in Japan, and I can see why.

Hope it helps a little…

Thank you for your comment again. If you do come across any fragrance by a Japanese brand that appeals to you, do let me know! :)

Hi Jossu,

I was actually not very familiar with Escada’s fragrances before. But this one is a very pleasant scent, and I can see why their fragrances have a following.

Hope you will get to test it soon, and let me know what you think!

Thank you very much for your comment again! :)

It’s a lovely scent! The top note has a hint of pink grapefruit which I love so much, but weird, in the description itself there’s no grapefruit! Different sense of smell i think.

I didn’t know Auyra carries perfume, I thought only cosmetics. :P If there’s someone selling, will try to find it! I found a few Japanese brands that appeals to me alot, I mean packaging wise, like AYP, Novae, Love & Peace and Juicy Jewel. Haven’t really gone through the whole selection yet, still don’t know which to buy! They are just so pretty!!!

Will let you know once I’ve bought the item!

Hi 心。葵,

I am glad you like it. For me, it is a very good scent for summer.

I can see what you mean by the grapefruit note. I think it is probably from the citrus accord from the top notes.

I am not very familiar with some of the Japanese fragrance lines that you mentioned. I am going to find out more! Thank you very much for telling me about them, and thank you for stopping by again. :)
