(Paul & Joe Eye Color in 05)

More lilac for today…

Almost all Paul & Joe‘s eyeshadows are available in singles, and the occasional palettes are usually seasonal limited editions. As I am more of a palette person, this is the only Paul & Joe eyeshadow I have, and, yes, it is a lilac.

This is a sheer light lilac. The color only builds up minimally when layered. The powder is very soft and has almost a fluffy feel. I can also use my fingers to apply this eyeshadow and get a nice and natural look.

It has a low-key mildly shimmery finish. What is unique about this shade is the very subtle warm pink and gold shimmer. It adds some vibrancy to the overall finish and prevents the shade from looking one-dimensional when worn alone.

I can use this alone for a barely-there look, as the sheer lilac and the soft veil of shimmer can brighten my eyes. I can also use it to complement my lilac-based eye palettes as a base or where needed.

For me, this is a good time-saver when I want a quick and easy minimal lilac look. It is also nice for travelling when I don’t want to spend too much time putting on makeup but want to look refreshed. (Again, I can use my fingers to apply it, so there is more precious packing space.) I will obviously have to pair it with other colors if I want more depth, but, overall, this is a simple and foolproof basic in my lilac repertoire.

I loove the packaging! Was going to get one shadow but found them too sheer for my liking. Glad they work for you though!

PS. I don’t know if I told you or not but a PLAZA style opened in Kaohsiung! In the Dreammall, level 1. It’s awesome!

Hi Becky,

I am not surprised that you think they are too sheer. I think some of their lighter shades can be too sheer for some people. I like delicately and not intensely pigmented shades, so I am quite okay with Paul & Joe's eyeshadows. (I do hope they will bring out some more nice palettes.)

I didn't know about PLAZA in Kaohsiung. Thank you very much for letting me know! (It sounds very exciting!) :)

Hi Ena,

I believe the Paul & Joe limited edition eyeshadow you have is from the spring 2008 collection.

I haven't tried it (or the other two in the lineup), but I think you can use a medium eyeshadow brush, dip in to pick up all the shades, tap the brush on the back of your hand to make sure the shades are loaded evenly, and apply. Also, you can use a small eyeshadow brush to pick up the different colors.

Hope it helps. Thank you for your comment, and let me know if you have any other question. :)

Love the shade of lilac. I am so going to find a pretty shade of lilac eyeshadow.

What shade of eyeliner would you
wear or reccomend to go with it?

hey PJ:

Show the front cover next time…

Most of the time I like eye shadow single better than palette because I like how they look like a little pieces of candy or marble that people collect, most palette doesn't have that appeal to me…And there is another thing, I have no skill applying shadow that most of the time, I use a sheer wash of color all over my lid, it would be horrible to even think of doing some contour on my puffy lids.

I guess I will skip this one. I usually go for sheer ones but since I've got one or two lilac shadow and a palette that work well for me, so that's enough.

But for the heck of the pretty packaging, I think I want something in that round compact (Got a P& J lip gloss, picked the wrong shade…I am trying to stop buying lip product for a while too…)

The blushers from Paul and Joe seem so pretty and I heard people say that they are better than Anna Sui face color(which I hope, on my face, one day it will turn out to be a flush instead of the jelly-fish's kiss) … Maybe I will get one since I remember you said that all the makeup from Paul and Joe are very natural looking.

Oh yeah that limed edition fall collection has a face /lip color with roses on the case…Oh my…

P.S. I think your Anna Sui pictures are all pretty enough (that's why random people in facebook wanted to "borrow" it in the first place) there is no need to re-take.

Hi Shopinchic,

I don't actually have a lilac/purple eyeliner. But I have been browsing them in shops. Shade-wise, so far I like Boujois' Khol & Contour in 06 Violet Artiste. Maybe you can have a look and see if it suits you.

Thank you for your comment again! :)

Hi Mina,

Thank you for your suggestion. I will definitely have photos of the cases in my future posts (if they are pretty enough…of course). :)

I know exactly what you mean. After I got the pressed powder and this eyeshadow single, I wanted one of the blushers because the size of the blusher compact was between the two. (The three would look so good together…) Some of the blusher shade combinations are very pretty, but they are all quite shimmery (at least for me). I tend to go for blushers without obvious shimmer, so I have to skip them.

Yes, I think, over all, the finish of Paul & Joe's makeup (especially base makeup) is quite natural.

(By the way, Paul & Joe blushers are not as firmly-pressed as the Anna Sui ones…which can be good or bad depending on how heavy-handed you are with blushers.)

Thank you for stopping by again! :)

Hi Ena,

You are welcome!

I think you are doing it right, as I believe the shades are designed to work together so different pigment particles can do their bits of work. I hope the overall finish will suit you!

Thank you for stopping by again. :)
