Lancôme Fall 2009 Makeup Collection Preview

in -Lancôme, 2009 Fall, makeup

If Lancôme’s fall 2009 collection is a song, it is a powerful anthem.

Created by Aaron De Mey, Lancôme’s Makeup Artistic Director, the Declaring Indigo collection is inspired by the colors of the Parisian coat of arms, the French Revolution and the spirit of freedom and impertinence. Striking primary hues saturate the collection as it features rich royal blues for eyes (seen above in Palette Liberté in Bleu Royauté) and velvety matte reds for lips.

The subtext of irreverence seems to continue from De Mey’s spring 2009 Pink Irreverence collection, but this time the colors carry a regal as well as a vintage feel.

I had a chance to preview the collection today, and here are some of the items from the collection:

The collection will be launched in the UK on September 1st.

I will be reviewing the items in more detail in the coming weeks. Do stay tuned!

Looking forward to this collection. Pink Irreverence was my favorite spring collection out of the western brands. I was disappointed that Lancôme didn't come up with an Aaron De Mey summer Look (though there is a summer look in the USA I don't think ADM had something to do with it). BTW ADM did a few looks on Daria Werbowy in de may issue of french Vogue, I like how he mixes textures.

Hi Paris,

The three lipsticks indeed have a velvety matte finish, and the red lip gloss is able to complement the lipsticks and to alter the finish.

I don't really post swatches on my blog, but I will try my best to describe the colors and the finishes for you.

Thank you for your comment again! :)

Hi Jojoba,

If you like royal blue, the blue/gold palette is definitely worth a look. The two blues are well-pigmented and look quite striking.

Thank you for stopping by again! :)

Hi Eru,

As you know, I don't really post swatches on my blog, but I will certainly try to be very specific about the colors and finishes of the various items.

Thank you for commenting again! :)

Hi Zuuchini,

The two blues are similar in color but different in finishes. The top left one has a glowy matte finish and the bottom right one contains gold flecks.

Thank you for stopping by again! :)

Hi Mina,

I was checking the Lancôme US site, and I presume the shade you mentioned is Midnight Glam. According to the information I have, the blue Le Vernis in this collection is called Indigo Paris. I am assuming that they are slightly different shades. On the other hand, it is the red nail color that is an existing shade that is re-promoted as part of the collection.

Thank you for your comment again! :)

Hi CedriCeCCentriC,

Yes, this is the second Lancôme makeup collection by Aaron De Mey. Certainly another collection with a good deal of impact.

My local bookstore carries French Vogue but I am not sure if there is still the May issue. I will definitely going to look for it. Thank you for letting me know!

Many thanks for your comment again! :)

Thanks PJ sorry I missed the fact you don't usually have swatches :D But your descriptions usually more than make up for it :) Have a great weekend

Hi Paris,

Please don't apologize! :) Some readers do request that I do swatches of certain items, but at the moment I haven't started doing them.

I very occasionally swatch items for my friends and I know how time-consuming it is to get the lighting and colors right in the photos, so I really appreciate the fact that bloggers like you take time to do so. :)

Thank you for stopping by again! :)

Hi PJ,

I was just Google-ing the Declaring Indigo and found pictures from the press presentation in Japan from this japanese blogger.

Link: http://ameblo.jp/beseen/entry-10270705860.html

There are more images from the collection on the same blog, but I can't link them directly I'm afraid. You will need to stoll down the following page:

Hi CedriCeCCentriC,

Thank you very much for the links!

The information I have got has some images of Daria Werbowy wearing items from the collection but the image of her in the Japanese blog post is new to me. I quite like her look with the blue eyeshadows.

Thank you again for sharing! :)
