Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss 1

a

In June, Estée Lauder launched Pure Color Gloss in the UK. It features 26 colors in three different finishes (Shine, Shimmer and Sparkle). Today I am highlighting 6 of the colors.

a

Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss Simply Pink 1

Simply Pink (Shine) is a warm milky nude pink. It is quite pigmented and has no shimmer (which is the case with the shades in the Shine family). The shade goes on slightly lighter than it looks in the tube. It gives a very glossy look for the lips, which appeals to me. But, personally, I think this shade is slightly too pale for my light-to-medium complexion. Also, because the shade goes on lighter than my natural lip color (and because the shade itself is quite pigment-rich), there is color/pigment visibly settling in lip lines. I think it would suit those with a fair complexion a lot better.

a

Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss Tempting Tearose 1

Tempting Tearose (Shine) is a warm dusty nude pink. It has the same pigmentation level and finish as those of Simply Pink, but it is much more suitable for my complexion. There is virtually no color visibly settling in lip lines. This muted (and rather chic) color can work well for those who want to try a nude look for the lips but don’t want colors that are too pale.

a

Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss Mod Poppy 1

Mod Poppy (Shimmer) is a prune-red with multi-color shimmer. Most of the shimmer is cool-toned, which is more visible in the group image above. (Mod Poppy is third from the top.) This is the most cool-toned shade of the six, and its shimmering particles are the most visible. The color looks sophisticated, and the shimmer imparts a subtly dimensional look for the lips.

a

Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss Electric Ginger 1

Electric Ginger (Shimmer) is a very sheer beige with predominantly beige-toned and gold-toned shimmer. It is the sheerest of the six, and the shimmer is the sparsest. It is essentially an almost-clear gloss with a touch of warm-toned shimmer. It can be layered onto a lipstick without changing the color of the lipstick too much.

a

Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss Passion Fruit 1

Passion Fruit (Shimmer) is a coral-toned red with soft and predominantly pink-toned shimmer. Color-wise, it is the most vibrant of the six. When worn lightly, it really brightens up my complexion. As the color layers well, it can create a considerably more dramatic look with a few more layers. Compared with the other five, it is a very versatile shade.

a

Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss Praline Paradise1

Praline Paradise (Shimmer) is a sheer orange-toned beige with softly pearly and multi-color shimmer. This is the second sheerest shade of the six. The shimmer looks sensual and gently dimensional. Even though its shimmer is the densest of the six, it doesn’t look frosty.

a

Overall, all the shades (except Simply Pink) should be nicely wearable for most complexions. It is not easy for me to pick a preferred one among Tempting Tearose, Mod Poppy, Passion Fruit and Praline Paradise, but I do really like the versatility of Passion Fruit and the sensual shimmer of Praline Paradise.

Ohoh!! Thanks for the review =) Passion fruit looks really good! Yesterday I dropped by the Estee Lauder counter and picked up the Pure Color Gloss in Twilight Petal. A really lovely nude pink. I love the glass like effect created by the gloss.
Anyway was looking for your email address on the blog but can’t find it (forgive me if i missed it). Would like to ask you some questions regarding blogging =)
