This is certainly by no means a timely update. I almost always have quite a few refills of my trusted Shiseiso ZA Two-Way Foundation and I wasn’t immediately aware of the new versions until I was told about them by a friend some time ago.

The new version of ZA’s Two-Way Foundation is Skin Beauty Two-Way Foundation (8 shades, SPF 20, PA++). Also, ZA features True White Plus Two-Way Foundation (4 shades, SPF 20, PA++), which is one of the latest editions to ZA’s base makeup lineup.

My plan is to try both foundations and see which one is a better replacement for me. I will definitely keep you all posted!

I hope you find a replacement, it sucks when they discontinue something you liked.
Btw, do you happen to know a really pale (powder) foundation? I guess you never look for one unless you need them yourself, but when you buy the new ZA ones and it seems like there’s a really bright shade, please let me know.

Hi Julia,

Thank you very much!

I have a light-to-medium complexion, and the lightest foundation shades from Japanese makeup lines are usually too light for me. But, based on my own observation, PO (Pink-Ochre) shades (called SO (Soft-Ochre) shades on Sofina Primavista’s foundation shade chart) tend to have a pale (off-white pink) tone to them, so they might possibly suit you. Also, Primavista’s BO (Beige-Ochre) 01 seems to be the lightest shade on the chart.

Hope it helps, and I will keep you posted if I come across some relevant information.

Thank you for stopping by again! :)

Julia, if you cannot get a light enough shade in ZA I can recommend the Kate powder foundation (Lasting High Coverage SPF 20 PA ++). I wear the OC-B shade because I’m a NC 15-20 but their BR-C shade is even lighter and should suit a NC/NW 10-15. If you need more info Lotus Palace has a review on her blog. :)

PJ, Sara,

thank you very much!
I have indeed swatched the Kate poweder foundation’s bright-up colour in a drugstore once and found it light enough, but the coverage was not that good. This is probably due to its function as a bright-up colour and not a foundation. (And I really need more coverage than brightening up lately, as my complexion seems to suffer from my overall low blood pressure condition at the moment – really pale with blotchy red patches. ;_;)
I also had a Sofina cream foundation once, in BO-1, which was lovely for winter, but I’d prefer something less creamy (and lighter on my purse! ^^;) if possible.
Thanks, again, though!

Btw, PJ, Chanel’s Rouge Coco Shine is #1 at cosme.net at the moment, just as you predicted.

Hi Julia,

You are welcome! :)

I will certainly keep an eye on very light-toned powder foundations with a decent coverage. I will keep you posted.

Nice to see Chanel Rouge Coco Shine doing so well on Cosme.Net. Thank you for letting me know! :)

I have a quick question. Where can you buy this foundation? I’ve been looking but I can’t find anything!

Hi Myra,

ZA is available in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and New Zealand (http://www.za-cosmetics.com/english/#/regional_news).

It is not often sold on-line, but there are currently some ZA products on http://www.bobodave.com. (This is just for your reference, as I have not shopped from this website before.)

Hope it helps, and thank you for your question.

I happened to find your blog when I googled review of ZA powder foundation. Laura Mercier, Lancome and ZA are in my list but I decided to ZA since it’s relatively much cheaper (like 4x cheaper!). I just got it last night. My t-zone is super oily but u-zone (side of my face) is quite dry. I get to see dry flaky skin when I put powder on my u-zone. I used to use BB cream or liquid foundation as my base, until one day I put some random Taiwanese makeup powder on my face because I was lazy to apply creamy/ liquid stuff on my face and magic happened! The powder last a few hours and no oil at all (but coverage is not very good). I start to think if a powder foundation will be a better choice for me. I got ZA in shade #21 and I’m using it now! Yeah 1st use. I think it doesn’t really cover my redness but it has better shine control (after 2 hrs makeup) than BB cream or liquid foundation. Hopefully this one suits me well like your ZA! Ops, sorry for my long comment!

Hi Wenwen,

Finding a foundation that suits both oily and dry areas can indeed be very tricky! I do think you can certainly wear some of the powder foundations. I think the key would be to prime your U-zone with sufficient moisture before putting on the powder foundation, and hopefully the foundation will work well for both areas. Do let me know what you think after you have tried it for a few times.

(By the way, which ZA powder foundation did you get, the Skin Beauty one or the True White Plus one? (I am trying both at the moment and I will post a review later on.))

Thank you very much for posting your comment! :)
