I came across this eyeshadow palette on YSL‘s on-line store in Japan. The Eyeshadow Palette 1998 is inspired by the colors on the greeting card that Yves Saint Laurent sent to his family, friends, and colleagues in 1998, which marked the 40th anniversary of his professional creative activity in fashion.

The four colors symbolize the brand icon, the sun, the Marrakesh sea, and Majorelle Garden.

Each individual palette comes with a unique serial number as proof of authenticity.

According to the site, this palette is a limited-edition Japan-only web-exclusive item. (The site delivers within Japan only.) But it might become available in some other countries later on.

It’s really cute, I’m not quite sure if all the shades are wearable, butit’s a nice addition if you have a stash :)

Hi Eli,

Indeed, the shades might be a little too pastel for many people, but I suppose, for some people who decide to get it, a collector’s item like this might probably stay unused for a long time.

Thank you for stopping by again! :)

What a charming palette! I had to look up a biography on Yves to understand – his ashes are scattered in that garden in Marrakech. Very interesting.
I think it’d be a great exercise to get to know other makeup-obsessed ladies (and gentlemen). Have everyone choose their four shades and say what inspired the choices.
I’m going to ask a few friends tomorrow.
Thanks for another thought-provoking post!

Hi Christy,

You are very welcome! :)

I think my palette will definitely have a purple, only because it is one of my favorite colors (both for clothing and for makeup)…

Thank you for posting your comment again! :)
