A Splash of Color Lilting Lilac 3 1

.

It has been a very long time since I brought you the last A Splash of Color post (Sensuous Plum). Today I am finally back with more, and of course it has to be lilac.

My More Lilting Lilac was back in May 2008. In the last year or so, I have been in my warm-neutral phase and one of my only new purple purchases is the new 3D Glossy Eyes in 04 Pink Violet from Coffret d’Or (which I will review later). But I have got quite a few purple items in the last three years. Here are some of the new additions of lilac, mauve, and violet:

Clockwise from left:

– MAC Pigment in Lovely Lily (decant from a generous friend)
MAC Mineralize Eye Shadow Duo in Odd Couple
Maquillage Forming Shiny Eyes in 52
– SUQQU Powder Eyeshadow in 26 Shoubuiro
– Givenchy Rouge Interdit Satin Lipstick in 35 Mauve Fetish (from a lilac-loving friend)
Jill Stuart Jelly Eye Color N in 08 Crystal Sky

“Surely there are more…,” you might think, especially if you are a regular reader. You are right. A Splash of Color: Lilting Lilac Palette Edition is coming up later this year. It will feature a couple of palettes previously unseen on my blog. Do stay tuned!

More splashes of colors:

Gorgeous Gold

Terrific Turquoise

Aqua Blue

New-Leaf Green

Girlie Pink

A very classic post! The pictures you take for this series are always elegant and well-laid out.

Lilac is lovely although any sort of purple is great! All three of my 5 colour Dior palettes feature some sort of purple in them. It is very pretty paired with pink or gold. However, I am very precise about the shades I buy.

Looking forward to the palette edition!

Hi Leila,

Thank you very much for your compliment! :) I am happy that you like the photos I took.

Purple is indeed great with pink and gold. One of my favorite purple palettes is Lunasol’s Sheer Contrast Eyes in Lavender Coral. It has both a pale pink and a yellow gold!

During my full-on purple phase, I have also learned what shades of purple suit me. Generally, they have to be a true lilac, a true lavender, or a true violet. Mauves are fine as long as they are not too ashy. Purples that are too blue-y, too grayish, or too plum-y don’t suit me as much. I think one of the reasons why I haven’t been buying purples as much is that I am a lot more picky now.

Thank you for posting your comment again! :)

Do you have access to Inglot? I created a lip palette at their Vegas location and one of my selections was a lovely lilac shade. I rarely wear it as I don’t want it to run out.
That SUQQU shade looks lovely. I hope it’s as pigmented as it looks.

Hi Christy,

I do. I have been to their store in London and seen their enormous array of colors. I think I will definitely go there again to have another look!

The SUQQU Powder Eyeshadow in the photo has a light-to-medium pigmentation level (and has a velvety matte finish). It can be layered for more intensity but it takes a bit of time. The texture is wonderfully silky.

Thank you for stopping by again! :)

Nice! <3
I was eyeing the Maquillage duo last year, but then got a Lavshuca duo in similar colours for less money. :)
The gold/purple combination makes hazel eyes stand out. <3

Hi Julia,

Thank you very much! :)

Is the Lavshuca duo you have Dual Prism Eyes in PU-1 from fall 2008? It is a very lovely duo (I like the striking combination of yellow gold and deep violet), and I very nearly decided to buy it. :)

Thank you for your comment again! :)

Dear PJ,

yes, that’s it! The yellowish gold is really lovely, whereas the violet lacks pigmentation a bit. It’s okay as a soft liner, but shouldn’t be blended into the gold (as a crease colour etc.) because then it starts looking a bit greyish.

Dear Julia,

Yes, I know what you mean. It is a pity that the violet isn’t more pigmented. (I don’t like it when violets start to look grey either…) A rich violet would be a great lining shade!

Have a good weekend! :)
