Jo Malone Vitamin E Moisturising Day Creme SPF 15 1

.

Jo Malone is well-known for its well-crafted fragrances, but the brand also carries numerous skincare items. Today I am highlighting Vitamin E Moisturising Day Crème SPF 15, which was launched in January 2012 and is the latest product in Jo Malone’s Vitamin E skincare range.

Vitamin E Moisturising Day Crème SPF 15 has a creamy consistency. It feels relatively light on the fingers but it is not as malleable on the skin as some of the other moisturizers that I have reviewed. The product uses ethylhexyl salicylate to protect the skin against UVB rays and butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane as the anti-UVA ingredient.

Some of the moisturizing ingredients in this product are butylene glycol, cetyl ricinoleate, stearyl alcohol, pentylene glycol, glycerin, lecithin, and C12-15 alkyl benzoate.

The product contains antioxidants such as gentiana lutea (gentian) root extract (also an anti-irritant), polygonum cuspidatum (Japanese knotweed) root extract, vitis vinifera (grape) seed extract, artemia (a type of algae) extract, linoleic acid (also an anti-irritant and a cell-communicating agent), tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E), tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate (vitamin C), nordihydroguaiaretic acid, and ergothioneine (also an anti-irritant).

It also contains laminaria ochroleuca (brown seaweed) extract and glycyrrhetic acid as anti-irritants.

It is alcohol-free and paraben-free. It contains a small amount of fragrance (parfum).

It contains rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) extract. It can function as an antioxidant but its fragrant components can be potentially irritating.

It contains citrus medica limonium (lemon) fruit extract, which can be irritating on the skin.

Despite the one or two potentially irritating ingredients, this moisturizer can be regarded as a decently formulated product for daytime use. (The array of antioxidants and anti-irritants saves the day.) This product may suit those with dry or slightly dry skin.

(Some ingredient information is based on Paula Begoun’s Cosmetic Ingredient Dictionary.)
