If you are a fan of Japanese cosmetics, you might have had the experience of checking the official website of a Japanese beauty brand for information on a particular product (probably something you consider purchasing) only to find that the product has been quietly discontinued and is no longer listed on the website. (I’ve certainly had that experience!)

Thankfully, several websites of Japanese beauty companies and brands now feature pages that list items that have just been or will soon be discontinued. Here are some that I have come across:

Specifically, the Shiseido, Kanebo and Kao pages list items that are no longer or will no longer be produced [correction below], and the SUQQU and RMK pages list items that are no longer or will no longer be available.

I presume that the items listed on the Shiseido, Kanebo and Kao pages may remain available for a while after they are no longer produced [correction below]. The information on the SUQQU and RMK pages is on product availability at the brands’ on-line stores, and the items that have been discontinued on-line may still be available at the department store counters for a while.

Note that the items listed on the Kao page do not include those from Sofina or Est.

These pages are about product availability in Japan. The availability of the listed items may vary in other countries.

For me, the information on these pages is very useful as it reminds me to make decisions on whether to purchase products that I have been considering trying.

These pages are definitely worth bookmarking. Alternatively, you can bookmark this post. I will update this post with more links if I come across others.

Updated on January 20th, 2017:

Correction: The Kanebo and Kao pages list items that are no longer or will no longer be produced and sold.

My apologies for the inaccuracies.

(Thank you very much, Kuri, for pointing out the errors. )

Wow, thanks for sharing!
The Kanebo page says production and sale will be halted, in the detailed text.
I like how Shiseido will stop production but bot pull the existing stock. It makes it possible to find old treasures.

You’re welcome!
I’ve had fun finding discontinued Majolica Majorca stuff before :)
Although, come to think of it, I’ve seen old T’estimo stuff in cosmetics stores before; I guess some stores don’t bother to pull the products.

Hi Kuri,

That does sound like fun! I would certainly love to come across some discontinued eyeshadow palettes from Coffret d’Or!

Thank you very much once again! :)
