Kose Elsia Melty-on Eye Color GD-1 Spring 2012 Makeup 1

.

This year, Kosé’s Elsia is one of the Japanese makeup lines that really caught my attention. Earlier I posted about the line’s Luxe Shine Eye Color in E-5, which started my Stash Debut 2012 series. The Melty-on Eye Color range was lunched in spring 2012 and includes eight variations (¥945 each), and today I am sharing my thoughts on GD-1, my second purchase from Elsia.

Paul and Joe Pearl Foundation Primer 001 Bonbon Holiday 2012 Base Makeup 1

.

Paul & Joe‘s Pearl Foundation Primer was first released in spring/summer 2012 as a limited-edition item. I was planning to buy it at the time, but it seemed to sell out quite quickly and I missed out on it. A few months later, I was very pleased to see it back as part of Paul & Joe’s limited-edition holiday 2012 makeup collection. I certainly didn’t allow myself to miss out on it again!

Kao Sofina Aube Couture Designing Impression Eyes 555 Brown Spring 2012 Makeup 1

.

In my own little world of makeup discovery, 2012 is probably the year of Sofina Aube Couture. Designing Impression Eyes in 553 Purple is the first item I purchased from the line since its revamp from the original Aube. I have then picked up three more variations, one of which is the limited-edition 561 Purple from fall 2012, and today I am sharing my thoughts on my second purchase, 555 Brown (released in spring 2012).

RMK Foamed Soap M 1

.

For spring/summer 2012, RMK has released Cream Soap (S) (to replace Creamy Soap (N)) and Foamed Soap (M) to add to the brand’s skincare lineup. (They were released on April 6th in Japan and at around the same time in the UK.) Today I am reviewing Foamed Soap (M).

Calvin Klein CK One Cosmetics 1(image from www.calvinkleininc.com)

.

It was Calvin Klein‘s beauty line from the 90′s that prompted me to start my Bring It Back series back in 2007, and it was an coincidence that news of the relaunch arrived shortly afterwards.

The line was relaunched in the UK in spring 2008, and I posted my review of Subliminal Purity Mineral Based Loose Powder, which I purchased in House of Fraser on London’s Oxford Street. However, within a year or so, the line disappeared again.

3rd: Aube Couture

(image from www.cosme.net)

.

Like Elsia’s spring 2012 makeup collection (featured in Part 2), Aube Couture’s spring 2012 makeup collection impressed me when I saw it in person. The new Designing Impression Eyes series was launched in fall 2011, and there are three new variations for spring 2012. What I like about these three new palettes (and many of the fall 2011 ones) is that they combine low-key colors with high-toned shimmery finishes. This combination creates understated glamour, and these three palettes are still very wearable for daytime. (See the two limited-edition variations for summer 2012.)

The twelve shades of the new Excellent Stay Rouge feature some elegant low-key cool-toned shades, which appeal to me a lot.

6th: Lunasol

Kanebo Lunasol Spring 2012 Makeup Top 10 1(image from www.kanebo-cosmetics.jp/lunasol/)

.

Looking at all the pinks and peaches in Lunasol’s spring 2012 makeup collection, I feel as if I were looking at colors from Jill Stuart packaged in Lunasol cases. It is a very spring-like, coherent, and wearable collection, but I think it is a little too safe and that it lacks the flair and imagination that many of Lunasol’s past collections had. This is mainly why Lunasol is not among my top three collections this season.

10th: AQ MW

Kose Cosme Decorte AQ MW Spring 2012 Makeup 1(image from www.nikkei.com)

.

With Kosé Cosme Decorte’s Magie Deco not releasing a collection for spring 2012, my attention  is naturally moving towards one of Cosme Decorte’s other lines, AQ MW (Absolute Quality Marcel Wanders).  The filigree patterns of the line’s debut makeup collection for spring 2012 run across the cases as well as some of the products themselves. Packaging-wise, I still prefer Magie Deco, but I certainly look forward to AQ MW’s seasonal releases in the future.
