Recently, quite a few major makeup brands have released sheer or semi-sheer ranges of lipsticks, from Chanel’s Rouge Coco Shine (see review here) and Dior’s revamped Dior Addict Lipstick to YSL’s Volupté Sheer Candy and Laura Mercier’s Gel Lip Colour. For spring/summer 2011, Burberry (see brand profile here) has released Lip Mist, also a range of semi-sheer lipsticks. Today I am highlighting 209 Feather Pink.

In the last few years, Chanel has been regularly releasing new lip items, such as Rouge Allure, Rouge Coco, Rouge Allure Laque, and Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss. Launched this spring, Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine is the latest addition. As I personally prefer semi-sheer lip items, I am quite excited about this new product.
Rouge Coco Shine comes in a slimmer case than that of Rouge Coco. (The lengths are the same and the gold bands are placed in the same position.) I like Rouge Allure’s substantial case but Rouge Coco Shine’s sleeker look also appeals to me.

RMK‘s Gloss Lips N was launched in Japan on December 3rd last year (and later that month in the UK) to replace Gloss Lips, which was among the brand’s best-selling items. Could the new version be just as popular?
Gloss Lips N is currently available in 20 shades in 4 finishes (CL (Clear), P (Pearl), H (Holographic), and SH (Shiny)), and today I am highlighting P-03 Rose Brown. (The three limited-edition lip glosses in RMK’s spring 2011 makeup collection are simply called Gloss, which is a different product.)

Lusciously creamy and comfortably nourishing, SUQQU‘s Creamy Lipstick and Blend Lipstick (also see here) are some of the best lipsticks I have ever come across. When SUQQU went through a revamp last September, both lipsticks were discontinued and replaced by Creamy Glow Lipstick. (I think some shades of the two previous lipsticks are still available in the UK.)
I was quite certain that it would be as good as the previous two, but I was wondering how different it would be. Launched in Japan last September with all the other revamped products, it was finally here in the UK in February. Today I am sharing my thoughts with you.

I didn’t think I would be able to get this……
Chanel’s Lèvres Scintillantes Glossimer in 387 Wish is from the brand’s limited-edition Tokyo Happening collection in summer 2009. The initial news I came across was that the collection was exclusive to Japan and Taiwan. There was then further news that it would be available in America.

For spring 2011, Estée Lauder released the Wild Violet makeup collection, which features purples and muted neutrals for the eyes, vibrant shades for the lips and an on-trend grey for the nails.
.

.
Pure Color EyeShadow in Untamed Violet (above) is one of the key items in the collection. It is a moderately pigmented muted blue with a hint of purple and a soft veil of multi-hued shimmer. Overall it has more of a velvety finish than a shimmery finish. I don’t find it as blendable as the ultra-blendable eyeshadows from many of the Japanese brands, and it may take a bit of layering if you want a highly color-rich finish. But the powder has a very good adherence on the skin and the finish lasts reasonably well.

I always look forward to Dior’s seasonal limited-edition star items, especially the ones for the holiday seasons. Dior’s Minaudière palette from the brand’s holiday 2010 makeup collection didn’t disappoint me after I saw it in person. (I also like its very long full name: Dior Minaudière Makeup Must-Haves for Radiant Eyes and Lips Eyeshadow and Lip Gloss Palette. This must be some sort of a record…)
The palette has a nice size and thickness and feels quite weighty and substantial, and I like the chic vintage design. I also like the fact that the fingerprints left on the black textured surface of the case are not that visible. (I can’t really play with some of the past limited-edition items as much as I want to because of their glossy reflective surfaces…)
The palette closes magnetically and not by the clasps.

One of RMK‘s most popular items is Gloss Lips. As far as I know, it hasn’t been revamped for at least ten years, which is very unusual for a Japanese beauty line. (It was not replaced after RMK’s major revamp last year.)
Without counting the EX (limited-edition) shades, 39 shades have been available. (#39 is from the fall 2009 collection.) Currently 20 shades are available. (The number gaps indicate shades that were released and then phased out over the years.)
On December 3rd, a new version, Gloss Lips N, will be released in Japan. It will be available in 20 shades and in a variety of finishes. I am assuming that these 20 shades will replace the existing ones. If you have a shade which you can’t live without, it is time to stock up!
Also, on the same day, RMK will release 4 new shades of Ingenious Powder Eyes.

Chanel‘s holiday 2010 makeup collection, Les Tentations de Chanel, is chic and romantic. With items for eyes, cheeks, lips and nails, the collection features two distinct color schemes, brown and fuchsia.

The two color schemes are designed to work with each other, but they can of course work on their own. The pink-toned items include:
- Les Tissages de Chanel in Tweed Fuchsia
- Rouge Coco in Magnolia
- Lèvres Scintillantes in Charming
- Lèvres Scintillantes in Pink Pulsion
- Le Vernis in Pulsion

In this review, I am focusing on the brown-toned items in this collection, which include Les 4 Ombres in Tentation Cuivrée and Ombre D’Eau in Splash for the eyes as well as Rouge Coco in Patchouli and Lèvres Scintillantes in Pleasing for the lips.
