Like Kate, Kanebo’s Lavshuca will release its spring 2009 collection in Japan on February 1st, 2009.

The collection includes:

Dramatic Memory Rouge (12 shades)
Grade Color Eyes palette (5 variations)
Separate Keep Mascara (in Long and Volume)
Mascara Base N
Makeup Base (in UV and Moist)
Finish Powder (in Lucent and High Cover)
Stick Concealer N (in 3 shades)

As part of a growing trend in Japanese cosmetics in the last couple of years (which I will discuss in more detail next week), Lavshuca continues to market lipsticks (instead of eyeshadow palettes) as the main items in the seasonal collection. The new Dramatic Memory Rouge is billed as both moisturizing and long-lasting, as it combines “moisture wrapping oil” for continual moisture and “fit stay oil” for lasting color.

Apart from the new lipsticks and eye palettes, I will be paying close attention to the Finish Powder, which I think will replace the current Face Powder (which I adore). The Face Powder I have is in Lucent, and I don’t suppose the new Lucent will be drastically different. But I will also be interested in how High Cover performs. (I am also curious about the new case and I wonder if it will be as cute as the Face Powder case. I am having high hopes.)

The beautiful plum color scheme remains in the overall look of the brand, but the product packaging evolves as new items join the lineup. With interesting products that are worth anticipation, Lavshuca’s spring 2009 collection is looking very promising.

The rest of the collection includes:

Conc Liquid Eyeliner (3 shades)
Magical Long Gel Mascara N (1 shade)
Liquid Rouge N (7 shades)
Deep Trap Eyes palette (1 new variation)
Gradical Eyes S palette (1 new variation)
Rouge Extra (1 new shade)

Some initial images of SUQQU‘s spring 2009 collection can now be seen on the Voce blog.

In one of the two images in the blog entry, showing the sakura-themed collection, I think I see some new Blend Lipsticks, Blend Eyeshadows, and Nail Colors. The new product for the season is Contour Shadow, which is used generally in the under-browbone area to highlight and to contour the eyes.

For me, it is always good to see a brand that thinks outside the box and comes up with interesting products with very specific purposes. (SUQQU has done it before with Clear Veil Powder.)

I will keep you updated as I come across more information on the collection.

Kiss is a cute Japanese drugstore brand that I have not tried before. The packaging is girlie but is more minimal-looking than that of Lavshuca and Majolica Majorca. Being a lover of loose powder, I decided to get the Mat Chiffon Powder.

It is a translucent powder with a very slight pink tone. The texture of this talc-based powder is very fine and silky. The finish is matte, as the product name suggests. There is minimal shimmer, which does not look apparent on the face. The puff that comes with the powder is soft and a pleasure to use.

(The shade I have is 01 Lucent Rose. At the moment, I think this is the only shade that Mat Chiffon Powder is available in.)

I have been enjoying using this loose powder very much. What I want from a loose powder is shine control and pore coverage, and this product delivers the two plentifully. The skin looks smoother and more polished, and the shine control is very satisfying.

Some of you might remember that Lavshuca’s Face Powder (in Lucent) is one of my favorite loose powder products and may wonder how I compare the two. First of all, Mat Chiffon Powder is now also among my favorite loose powder items as both are great in shine control and pore coverage. But I think I still very slightly prefer the Lavshuca Face Powder because the beige-toned powder evens out redness a little better (whereas Mat Chiffon Powder is pink-toned).

I would recommend this powder to whoever is interested in a good-quality matte loose powder. Also, if you have combination or oily skin and want to stay shine-free for longer during the day, I think this product is very likely to suit you.

(Many thanks to my friend Betsy at Autumn Masquerade for having me try this powder before I bought it. You can read her review of it here.)

Terrible news for my bank balance…

Earlier I linked to photos of items from Lunasol’s spring 2009 collection. Now, here is the collection item detail:

Layer Bloom Eyes (5 variations)
Full Glamour Lips S (15 shades, including 5 limited editions)
Full Glamour Gloss N (5 shades, limited editions)
Nail Finish (5 new shades)

The collection will be released in Japan on January 16th, 2009.

I think the items we see in the photo above are gorgeous. (It is almost as if Lunasol knew the kind of makeup colors I absolutely adore.) The lilac-toned eye palette and lip gloss are now firmly on my shopping list for spring 2009…

Please head over here to see (a whole lot of) images of the collection.

YSL Spring 2009 Collection

More images of spring 2009 makeup collections from the Voce blog. This entry features photos from YSL‘s spring 2009 collection, which includes palettes for eyes and cheeks, lipsticks, lip glosses, and a few other products.

As with some of the spring 2009 collections that we have seen from Japanese brands, YSL’s spring colors for next year are very soft and wearable. The new Golden Gloss shades appear to be without the usual shimmer.

Daily sun protection should be an indispensable part of your daily skincare routine (rain or shine) and is essential for healthy and great-looking skin. But choosing a good daytime moisturizer/sunscreen with a suitable texture for any particular skin type can be tricky. Today I am looking at a product marketed for combination skin from RoC’s new Hydra+ Bio Active range.

Generally, it is a well-formulated moisturizer for daytime. It is alcohol-free and has ingredients to protect the skin from both UVA and UVB. The anti-UVA ingredient in this product is butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane, and the antioxidants are copper gluconate and Tocopherol (vitamin E). But Tocopherol is towards the end of the ingredient list and is highly doubtful that it will be of any substantial help for the skin.

It goes on quite matte so it can work for people with combination skin. However, the texture itself is richer than many moisturizers marketed for the skin type. If you happen to have quite oily T-zone, it can be a little too emollient for the area. One way to work around it is to apply the moisturizer on the cheeks first and apply only the residue on your fingers onto the rest of the face.

As a base for the foundation, I think it works well. Cyclopentasiloxane (silcone) is the second ingredient on the list and the product does give a silky finish. My powder foundation goes on very smoothly. Even though, in skincare products, silicone preserves the efficacy of antioxidants much better than water, I would personally prefer slightly less silicone in my skincare products.

Overall, I would recommend this moisturizer to those with normal or normal-to-dry skin with no issue with excessive sebum. If any part of your skin tends to be oily, you might want to go for something lighter.

(The range also includes three other moisturizers, one for normal skin, one for dry skin and a body lotion.)
