I Won’t Buy This: Les 4 Camélias de Chanel for Fall 2007

No, I won’t be buying this…not because I don’t like Chanel or because I don’t like the look of this palette.

It is quite the opposite. Chanel is one of my favorite brands for makeup. I love the low-key and glamorous packaging and I enjoy using their items.

I adore this palette as well. The beautiful colors, in the shape of feminine and delicate camellias, are wearable for most people.

*BUT*, the second my lip brush is dipped into the colors, I won’t have all the four perfect camellias anymore! Sigh. As much as I want to keep looking at them, I want to use them too! So I will just have to satisfy myself by looking at the photo here…

Saw this palette and although I love Chanel makeup, it’s too beautiful… makes me feel guilty!

I just saw this palette and although I like Chanel makeup, I’ll just feel too guilty to use this — too beautiful!!!!

gosh I know this feeling well!

I still have the pearl effects from 2002, which aren’t nearly as pretty as these, that I haven’t made a single mark on!

So sick.

I do this with many “pretty” palettes and I’m slowly trying to stop! Because hey I only live once and I should be using this stuff. It’s still hard though!!!!!

I, too, won’t buy this for the same reason as you because as hard as I try to convince myself it’s OK to use it, I still won’t!

I thought I was the only one out there to resist temptation, not because the palette was not beautiful, but because it was too beautiful. Nice to know that there are others like me that hate to see perfection scarred, and therefore refrain from buying!

That pallett is gorgeous. I wouldn’t buy Chanel either way. Too expensive when I feel there are other brands out there that are better for same/less prices. I do love the chanel symbol though…i rock the earrings lol

I’m not buyingthis either for the same reason. maybe Buying two would solve the problem? You know, you look at one and use the other…

This is indeed too beautiful to use. Very elegant and perfect.

Hello everyone!!

Thank all of you for commenting on my blog! All the comments are very much appreciated!

That’s true. If I bought this, I would feel guilty to use it, simply because it is the actual product that makes up the beautiful pattern…

Julie

Thank you very much! I will definitely keep it updated constantly. Please do come back often!

A-Mused

I know the Chanel 2002 product you mentioned. It is indeed very pretty, and this one is also too pretty to be used.

I am also guilty of owning several products that I don’t plan to use…ever. For me, they are more like collector’s pieces. The pleasure of having them and appreciating their prettiness is enough for me. But I have been trying to buy what I actually will use. So…I am not buying this either…:)

You are definitely not the only one! Maybe Chanel can work on this and come up with equally beautiful items that we will actually rush out to buy! :)

Thanks again everyone!!

Hello everyone!! Thanks for the comments!

Brittni

The palette is indeed gorgeous. What appeals to me the most about the general Chanel packaging is the simple black. Very sedate but memorable at the same time. In terms of cosmetics, no one has done black quite as well as Chanel…

Erusa

You know what…I know someone might mention this idea! :) I admit it is definitely a possible solution. If it were a lot cheaper…maybe. But not at the price it is sold at…

Anita

Agree with you there. Definitely too beautiful to use. Also, if they were just four plain square lip colors in the compact, we might not really be attracted to the palette. So, in this case, it is a lose-lose situation unfortunately…:)

Awww.. I’m sorry you won’t be purchasing it. It’s such a shame. This palette is just so pretty.

I saw this pallet a few months ago, I would be so scared to ruin one of the flowers in the pallet, this is one pallet I would only want to look at not, use…which would make me feel soooo guilty

Hello everyone! Thanks for the comments!

Julie

I know. I do really like it. But I just think I would rather save my money for some equally pretty items that I will actually use! :)

Ixlovexmac

I definitely agree with you. If I do buy this one, I don’t think I will ever want to use it! I will have to be satisfied with just looking at it!

Rachel

Actually, I do this to other people with my hand-wrapped gifts. My friends almost always want me to re-wrap the boxes once they get the actual gifts out.

Once a friend even said “I don’t care what’s inside. I will just display this in my house for everyone to see!”

I do have a good/bad reputation for this… :)

I know what you mean, you never want to mess up the designs!

I am actually happily using this product, and surprisingly my flowers are still pretty. I am just really careful about putting the lipbrush into one “petal” at a time until the petal is used. The flower still maintains its shape. Just like peanut butter in a jar, its pretty but I really want a sandwhich. I like the colors a lot, esp. the plum & white shades. If you buy this, please use it.

Hello Christine,

Thank you for your comment!

Exactly…that’s the reason why I don’t really feel like buying this…:(

Hello there,

Thank you for leaving a comment!

You are the first person that left a comment here that has bought it and is using it!

I see what you mean. The consistency of the lip colors is probably quite solid so the shape doesn’t get “distorted” during use. It is very nice to know this! If I do buy it, I *WILL* be very tempted to use it…

Great to know you are liking the shades. They do look very pretty!

Love the peanut butter analogy! Now I am feeling peckish…

I have the Gouche De Chanel Palette from about 3 years ago I STILL havent opened because I dont want to ruin it :p and the entire Mac Barbie Range!! So from now on if I can’t bring myself to use it I wont buy it!

Hello Rowena,

Thank you for leaving a comment!

I am definitely guilty of similar things. I do have palettes that I have not used…. My excuse is that I see them as collector’s pieces…:)

Hello Wendy,

Another fitting analogy for all this! Thank you very much for your comment! :)

Loving your blog, by the way!
