Earlier this year, British spa and skincare brand Elemis debuted its first fragrance, Elemis Eau de Parfum, a citrus marine that is summery and relaxing. As we are heading into autumn and winter, the brand has launched another olfactory creation, Elemis Eau de Parfum Exotic.

Top notes: pink pepper, clove bud, cinnamon bark
Middle notes: ylang ylang, tuberose, Indian jasmine sambac
Base notes: frankincense, cedarwood, Somali incense, sandalwood

Elemis Eau de Parfum Exotic is essentially a woody floral. The spicy top notes make an unapologetic entrance and set the tone of the fragrance. The transition from the top notes to the deep and sensual floral heart notes is smooth and subtle, while the gourmand top notes continue to have a dominant existence.

The drydown is woody and mildly dry, and the incense notes give the fragrance an exotic edge. Overall the scent warms up as the notes progress, and it carries a dark and mysterious flavor throughout the progression. Whereas Elemis Eau de Parfum suits spring and summer, Elemis Eau de Parfum Exotic is definitely an autumn and winter fragrance.

Personally, spicy and incense notes don’t really appeal to me, and I prefer the lighter Elemis Eau de Parfum, which is breezy and airy with a pleasant touch of dry (rather than syrupy) sweetness. However, if you are looking for something sharper and more intense for the evening or for the coming colder months, then Elemis Eau de Parfum Exotic could be your new signature scent.
