Melvita Naturalift Youthful Skin Cream Smoothing and Firming Care 1

.

Founded in France in 1983, Melvita is one of the largest certified organic beauty brands in France. At the moment, all of Melvita’s products are certified organic by ECOCERT and they meet the standards of Cosmébio. Today I am highlighting Naturalift Youthful Skin Cream.

Naturalift Youthful Skin Cream Smoothing and Firming Care is a facial moisturizer with a very lightweight consistency. It spreads very easily and is absorbed quickly. Some of its main moisturizing ingredients are dicaprylyl ether, caprylic/capric triglyceride, octyldodecanol, glycerin, arachidyl alcohol, safflower seed oil, stearic acid, beeswax, and camelina sativa seed oil.

The product contains antioxidants such as tilia cordata (linden flower water), which is second on the ingredient list, fagus sylvatica (yeast) extract, argania spinosa (argan) extract, tocopherol (vitamin E), and buddleja davidii extract (which also has anti-inflammatory properties).

The product is paraben-free. It contains fragrance (parfum) and other scenting agents (such as limonene and citronellol). It contains benzyl alcohol, but the amount is very small and it is not likely to irritate the skin.

The description of this product on Melvita’s website indicates that the product has an “immediate tightening, firming effect“, which I did feel during my trial. However, personally, as I want my skin to feel relaxed and soothed, this very pronounced tightening effect (which can last up to a couple of hours and resembles the tightness I feel when my skin is not sufficiently hydrated) makes my skin feel taut and uncomfortable and it doesn’t appeal to me at all. (The tightness persisted after I applied a second layer of the product.)

Overall, ingredient-wise, Naturalift is a well-formulated product. It should suit those with normal, combination, and slightly-oily skin. But I think the immediate tightening effect is more likely to be the deciding factor in whether the product will appeal to you.

(Some of the ingredient information is based on Paula Begoun’s Cosmetic Ingredient Dictionary.)
