Lunasol will be releasing the Holiday 2007 coffret on November 16. The Lunasol Holiday Party 2007 Coffret includes a 4-color eyeshadow palette, a liquid eyeliner, a lip gloss, a pressed powder, and a gift box (seen below).

I feel ambivalent about this collection. I think many Lunasol fans would want to see some more striking shades and more “collectible” items. The eyeshadows are all very neutral, the gloss is a universally flattering cool pink, and the pressed powder should be sheer and with a bit of shimmer. So, for Lunasol fans (including me), maybe some of us won’t be excited by these items.

However, Lunasol holiday sets usually sell out fast. Objectively, as a gift, this set is flawless, as these shades won’t look wrong on most people. Also, it is great for people who have never tried Lunasol and are interested in experiencing some of the items.

The coffret costs 6,825 yen in Japan (about 59 USD).

Looking back at some of the previous holiday releases, we see that the feel of the collections has been quite consistent. The Holiday 2006 set had more of a golden edge:

The Holiday 2003 coffret was mostly for the lips:

But I do remember the Holiday 2004 collection, which featured two eyeshadow palettes, one with turquoise and one with purple shades, in one-off ivory-white packaging. Those were items worth some serious consideration!

Nevertheless, Lunasol is known for quality and has some great items, and I always look forward to its new releases!

yawn :(

this stinks.

It makes me sad and happy. Happy to have more $ for Givenchy, Dior, and other goodies!

Sad that lunasol fails to bring some nice shimmer for the holiday season :(

Sigh.

Oh well!

Hello A-Mused,

Looks like we are both saving up for Dior! :)

I kind of expected it anyway, so I wasn’t too let down. (It would be a disaster if all the holiday collections were equally fantastic.)

It is not a bad collection. The items still look classy and sophisticated, but they do appear to be a bit ordinary compared with the previous seasonal collections this year…

Well, let’s see what Lunasol brings out in spring 2008!

As the holidays pop up I always look for a bit more shimmer. In general you know what a shimmer/glitter/sparkle whore I am but it’s double around the holidays ;)

So, I agree it’s not a bad collection but it just lacks the wow factor for me.

I’m ready for Dior that’s for sure and givenchy! And the Stila holiday collection looks like it may be quite nice!

Thanks Melissa ;) Whatever you pick up for your holiday cosmetic goodies do let us know and enjoy them as well!

Hello Melissa,

Do let me know if you have a chance to see the items. I probably won’t have a chance to see them in person so I’ll be interested to know what you think! (I am a Lunasol fan so I am always curious about what others think…)

Thank you for leaving a comment again! :)

Thank you, A-Mused,

Those purchases were what made me decide to be strict with the budget this year and be very selective with purchases…:)

So far this year I have been doing okay. This coming holiday period will be the final test for me!

I wish I could show more will power but everything calls out to me!

I’m like a kid in a candy store ;)

This year I’ve promised myself to restrain and hold out!

We shall see if I actually accomplish it!

Hello A-Mused,

I understand what you mean…it is very hard to resist temptation sometimes.

In the beginning of this year, I set up annual budgets for makeup and skincare (separately), based on a considerable cut from the amount I spent last year. Then I could break them down to monthly budgets so I know whenever I go shopping in store or on-line how much left I can spend.

Interestingly, on budget mode, I become competitive with myself and I *want* to stay under budget. So far I am doing well…

Hello Gal,

Lunasol is available in Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia and possibly a couple of other Asian countries. (I think it is available in Hong Kong as well.)

Online-wise, there is a website called Ichibankao (ichibankao.com), which is based in Japan and carries Lunasol items.

I have not shopped from this site before, but I have heard positive comments on the service.

Also, sometimes there are Lunasol items on eBay.

Thank you very much for reading my blog and leaving your comment! :)
