Dior has released a new range of 5-color eyeshadow palettes in Japan, which are called 5 Couleurs (5-Color) Design (as opposed to 5-Color and 5-Color Iridescent). (The full name is 5 Couleurs Design All-in-One Artistry Palette.)

Four variations are in the initial lineup. Two of them have already been released (408 and 508) alongside the launch of Pro Eye Creators.

The range features tone-on-tone palettes. The main difference from the existing Dior eyeshadow palettes is that the darkest shade in each palette is a cream eyeliner. One of the two applicators included in the compact has a flat brush for applying the cream eyeliner.

The other two variations will be released in Japan on April 10th.

just wanted to let you know, the palettes come with 5 different textures. of course they include a cream colour, as you described, which can be used as a liner (or that also go on amazingly smooth as a base for eyeshadows), as well as a shimmery shade, a more intense colour shade, etc etc.

These ones remind me of the original 5-Couleurs where the eyeshadows were flat, with the Cannage print on them. I suppose why they don’t appeal to me as much look-wise as I prefer the print for how the palettes look.

Hi Hightea_xx,

Thank you for letting me know. I am really looking forward to seeing these palettes. I have not bought any of Dior’s 5-Color palettes lately. Maybe there is something in this range that I might be interested in…

Thank you for posting your comment again! :)

Hi Ebontien,

I remember that, when the new Dior eyeshadow palettes with the Cannage prints first came out, I didn’t like them. Somehow I do now, and I still like the flat ones.

I mentioned before that Dior’s eyeshadow palettes seemed to be getting more and more shimmery (the normal ones and the iridescent ones). I am hoping that at least one or two of these shades in these palettes are not as shimmery/frosty. We’ll see.

Thank you for your comment again! :)

I just received the Design palette in Amber. I got one of those tester things that can be inserted into the counter display. The concept and texture reminds me of japanese eyeshadow palettes. The color pay-off (you need to build the color up) is almost identic to my Kanebo Lavshuca and T'estimo palettes, the texture is maybe not as creamy. This is totally different from the usual Dior texture. In my experience with Dior, it's really the first time they come out with a real "all-in-one" palette, normaly I need to mix and match my Dior palettes to atchieve the look I want.
Because I only have a tester I don't where the product was made, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was Japan.

Hi CedriCeCCentriC,

That's such an interesting observation. Indeed, many Japanese brands have been releasing all-in-one palettes for quite some time, and the 5-Colour Design palettes do resemble them.

I tested some of them at the counter and I certainly see what you mean about the color pay-off and the texture. It will be interesting to see how popular they are.

Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts once again! :)
