A few days ago, I happened to see Paul & Joe‘s holiday collection in Harrods. (I didn’t expect such an early launch in the UK.) I spent some time testing out the items, and I think most of them are quite wearable. The eye palette in 001 and the two loose powder eyeshadows should be great for creating smoky eyes .
According to the Paul & Joe (English) website, the eye palettes and the eyeliners as well as the loose powder eyeshadows and the face powders are sold as sets in Japan while all of them are sold separately in the UK and the US.
All the makeup items (and the two makeup pouches and the jewelry box) are currently available in Harrods, except the new Lip Lacquer. It will be launched later, along with the repackaged fragrances (Paul & Joe Bleu & Blanc) and the two bodycare items (Body Milk and Body Treatment Oil). (I have had Paul & Joe Blanc for a few years and I am planning to review it later.)
I quite like the colors of the packaging, as purple and gold do make a lovely combination. (But I think I would like the packaging even more if the patterns were a little more delicate.) By the way, the jewelry box retails for 15 pounds, which I think is relatively reasonable.

Chanel currently features a variety of skincare ranges with anti-aging claims: Beauté Initiale, Ultra Correction Line Repair, Ultra Correction Lift and Sublimage. Today I am reviewing products from the Ultra Correction Lift and Ultra Correction Line Repair ranges.
Ultra Correction Lift Lifting Firming Day Cream SPF 15 (pictured above)
Some of the main moisturizing ingredients in this product are glycerin, glyceryl stearate, shea butter, cetyl alcohol (fatty acid/ emollient), caprylic/capric triglyceride and jojoba esters. The product also contains canola oil, which, according to Paula Begoun, has barrier repair and anti-inflammatory properties.
The cream has a densely creamy texture and feels very emollient on the skin. It is certainly too emollient for those with combination or oily skin, but for those with dry or very dry skin, it can potentially be an effective daytime moisturizer. (It is too emollient for my facial skin, which can get quite oily. I have been testing it on my neck, which is quite dry, and it leaves my neck supple and moisturized without feeling greasy.)
This product is alcohol-free. The anti-UVA ingredient it uses is butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane (avobenzone).
Ultra Correction Line Repair Anti-Wrinkle Day Fluid SPF 15
Compared with the Ultra Correction Lift day cream reviewed above, this product has considerably more silicones, which help create a smoother appearance for the skin. Some of the moisturizing ingredients in this product are glycerin, pentylene glycol, cetyl stearate and butylene glycol.
Like the Ultra Correction Lift day cream, this product also contains butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane to protect against UVA rays.
It has a creamy lotion consistency and a silky finish. It contains alcohol, which is fifth on the ingredient list. It could create a subtly tightening effect and may temporarily help reduce the appearance of wrinkles to some extent, but it may also be a skin irritant for some people. Without alcohol, this moisturizer could suit those with normal, slightly dry or slightly oily skin.

Some of you (especially if you are US-based bloggers) might be aware of the updated guides concerning endorsements and testimonials set out by the US Federal Trade Commission (which will go into effect on December 1st, 2009). You can read the guides here.
According to the guides, bloggers who receive free products to review on their blogs will need to disclose, in a clear and conspicuous manner, that they receive these products. This also applies to bloggers who receive monetary compensation for posting an article on their blogs. (Carleen at Beauty and Fashion Tech has written a very informative article on this. You can also read the shorter version here.)
I am not a US-based blogger, so I am assuming these guides do not apply to me. (But I could be wrong, since Blogger, which hosts my blog, is US-based) However, I do think it is a good idea for all boggers to be more conspicuous about the disclosure.
For the past two years or so (of my nearly three years of blogging), there has been a statement at the end of my blog about reviews of products that I receive from cosmetics companies (and about which articles are reviews of such products). From now on, reviews of products that I receive from cosmetics companies or PR firms will include disclosures within the articles.
(A side note: I have never received monetary compensation for my blog articles and I do not write paid (sponsored) posts.)

Here is a quick look at Chanel’s holiday 2009 makeup collection. The star item of the collection is Les Tissages Lamés, a gold-toned highlighter version of Les Tissages blushers.
Below is part of the rest of the collection. (The eyeshadow palette stands out for me, as warm green and light turquoise are relatively unusual shades for the holiday season.)
