Anna Sui & Jill Stuart Latest Foundation Cases

in -Anna Sui, -Jill Stuart, all about Japanese cosmetics, makeup, makeup - base makeup, makeup - base makeup - foundation, makeup - base makeup - powder, stash focus

Today I am sharing two latest additions to my foundation case collection.

First up is the case of Anna Sui‘s Loose Compact Powder UV, which is part of Anna Sui’s spring/summer 2008 base makeup release. This case is for the new loose powder refills and is designed to make Anna Sui’s loose powder slightly more travel-friendly. (Remember that Anna Sui’s original large loose powder case doesn’t have a screw lid and is very tricky to travel with.)

Even though white is my least favorite color for Anna Sui’s packaging, I like the thickness of the case compared with other Anna Sui’s foundation compacts.

The case comes with a purple powder puff which is very soft to the touch.

Please notice that the sift is included in the refill and not in the case. So this is not the kind of portable loose powder case in which you can put your own loose powder. But, size-wise, all the round Anna Sui foundation refills can fit into this case.

Next is the Jill Stuart‘s Powder Foundation Compact S, which is released with the new Smooth Skin Powder Foundation. Compared with the original Powder Foundation Case (released in spring 2006), the new case has a different design for the lid and features a charm with floral details.

Let’s see the two designs side by side. The spring 2006 case is on the left and the spring 2008 one is on the right:

All the Jill Stuart powder foundation and pressed powder refills are the same size, and the cases are sold separately. So what case to pick when you purchase a Jill Stuart foundation refill is entirely up to you.

Furthermore, since both Anna Sui and Jill Stuart (and Paul & Joe as well) commission Kosé (which owns Albion, commissioned by Anna Sui and Paul & Joe) to produce the makeup (and skincare) line, all their round foundation refills can fit into all cases.

My case collection does take up a bit of space. But, for me, it is a slightly less pricey way to chart the development of a brand’s image and there is no need to worry about products expiring. I shall continue to pick up the cases I like from my favorite brands.

Annu Sui products are always very visually appealing and more decorative than usual cosmetics. I liked the 2006 Jill Stuart case more than the 2008 one! Just a minor difference in both looks.

Ha, not worryig about shelf life was the main reasons why I like Anna Sui’s accesories. It’s nice to know that I don’t have to buy anna sui powder refill(I don’t like it at all) in order to use the cases I have.

Actually out of all the anna sui cosmetics I got so far, I only like like the mascara, rouge s, and loose powder.( I probably will only go back to the rouge S when it comes to cosmetics, since it’s not hard to find a drugstore replacement of the mascara and the loose powder gives me breakout…well, apprently my skin is over-reactive to start with.)

Out of all the cases you’ve shown, now I actually like the ones from Sofina Raycious the best, they look so cleaned cut and fresh. and the shape is pretty practical too.

I think my interest towards Anna Sui had faded quite a bit (well, I am no longer crazy about it after getting all those random but crappy items like blotting paper, liquid eyeliner, eye gloss etc…) and my stock started to give me a headache, the collection just sits on my table looking pretty and useless, yet I don’t want to get rid of any of them…urgh

I probably won’t buy anything from Jill Stuart because I can almost see myself scratching the metal coating off while playing with it(there is already a scratch on my anna sui brigtening case bacause I put in inside my backpack with my keys in it) …plus the prize is bloody. I could get a *really* good edition of a music book for for an eye shadow, (most,if not all makeup look weird on me…)

I guess I am more of a no-frill fan by heart…who just can’t say no to pretty packaging.I guess I can start saving up a bit from now on since all I want now is that green lipgloss from dior and I can’t find one anywhere in US since they ran out in Sephora’s site…(I only found a tester with clear cap on eBay, for like 21bucks…21 for a tester in Hong Kong? nah…)

But seriously, I think I will put a pause on my buying habit since the only things that I need/use are just cleanser/blotting paper/sun block…and a bit lip gloss when I have the time.

Wouldn’t life be so much easier if I am a guy?

*sighs*

I Ilovecheese,

I’ve actually had a hard time trying to decide which of the two Jill Stuart cases I like better. I think I like both pretty much equally! But I do like the tassel slightly better than the floral charm…:)

Thank you for posting your comment again! :)

Hi Wieniawski (Mina),

Two of my favorite Anna Sui items are the blushers. One is the Face Color Accent that I have reviewed. The other is a cream-stick blusher that you might have seen in one of my Anna Sui stash photos. It is the one housed in a gold case shaped like a larger lipstick. But it has been discontinued for some time, which is why I haven’t highlighted it in one single post.

I am glad that you also like the look of the Raycious cases! Indeed, they have a very clean, fresh, and fuss-free look. The style is obviously very different from Anna Sui. But I do love both.

It is quite interesting that the Anna Sui foundation refills can actually fit into Raycious’ 1st-generation foundation case, which is the only case that takes round refills.

I think my love for Anna Sui has always been on-going, but I usually pick up one or two items in a year at most.

With the 2006 Jill Stuart powder foundation case, the metal-like patterns are actually under a layer of transparent plastic. So you won’t be able to touch the filigree patterns. (But this is not very easy for the camera to capture…)

I hope you will be able to find the Dior green lip gloss with a good price! Do let me know if you get it. :)

Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts again! :)

I have never thought of collecting compacts, though those are beautiful ones, PJ! I do collect perfume bottles, and I really should post about some of those.

Hi Fragrance,

I hope you enjoyed this post! :)

Perfume bottles are definitely very nice things to collect. It is again a great way to follow a brand’s evolution.

Do let me know if you decide to post about your collection. I would love to read about it.

Thank you for leaving your comment. Hope to hear from you again! :)

Hi Pop-teen,

Jill Stuart Cosmetics is currently available in Japan and Taiwan. It is not sold in Europe/North America at the moment.

I bought the Jill Stuart and Anna Sui case from the website ichibankao.com. They take PayPal payments and ship internationally, and I have been happy with their services.

Hope it helps, and thank you for your comment! :)

Hello Ms. PJ!

I just wanted to ask what face powder /powder foundation brands will fit in the Jill Stuart cases?

Thank you!

Hi Chalette,

As far as I know, Anna Sui’s and Paul & Joe’s powder foundation refills can fit into Jill Stuart’s foundation cases. (All three brands are ultimately owned by Kosé.)

Hope it helps, and thank you very much for your question! :)
