Many of Lunasol‘s past makeup collection themes are based on the idea of “purification”. So far, we’ve had:

“Scent Purification” for fall 2006 (Scent Form Eyes)
“Brilliance Purification” for fall 2007 (Geminate Eyes)
“Color Purification” for spring 2008 (Sheer Contrast Eyes)

The clear brand philosophy and the individual yet coherent seasonal makeup themes are what set Lunasol apart from the other Japanese makeup brands, and their brand image has always been very appealing to me.

For fall 2008, it will be all about red, as Lunasol brings us the theme “Red Purification“. For a change, Lunasol’s latest collection will focus on the lips, and 16 red lipsticks take center stage.

All the items are brand new and are not new shades added to the existing items. The full Lunasol fall 2008 lineup includes:

Full Glamour Lips S: 16 shades
Contrasting W Lip Liners: 2 shades
Noble Shade Eyes: 5 variations
Noble Shade Liner: 3 shades
Brow Styling Compact: 2 variations
Coloring Cheeks: 2 shades (refill only, case and applicator sold separately)

Apart from the color makeup items, the fall lineup will also include Nuance Change Foundation B (2 shades), which is supposed to be Lunasol’s equivalent of YSL’s Touche Éclat. The new skincare addition will be Lip Essence, with SPF 20 and PA+.

The collection will be launched in Japan on August 22nd.

I would describe this collection as both classic and edgy, with beautiful red lipsticks and rather bold red-toned eyeshadows. (It seems that each of the five Noble Shade Eyes palette will feature a shade of red.) I am really looking forward to seeing how these red eyeshadow shades will be worn on models in Japanese makeup magazines. Also, for those who look for the ultimate red lipstick, this collection is worth a serious look.

This seems to be another seasonal makeup collection from Lunasol that has a tremendously unique identity, and I think Japanese makeup fans will remember this collection for a long time.

I will update this post when I come across more information.

Oh those lippies are calling my name! Not so much the eye palettes though. Can’t wait to check this one out. Thanks PJ!

PJ as always I really enjoy your updates on seasonal releases! I am really liking the Cosme decorte renewal, yes the repackaging is more appropriate for the price range, and I’m really excited for the Lunasol REDS collection too as I have not been able to find a lot of good clean reds from Japanese lines.

Thanks!

Yin

A new range of red lippies sounds really attractive!
The thought of red eyeshadow in every quad is a bit scary though. The design of the palette looks like their older Intellectual eyes range =)

Hi Paris,

You are welcome!

The lipsticks indeed look good, and I do look forward to seeing the palettes. I have a feeling that a couple of the red-toned eyeshadows will be in a deep and muted plum-red rather than a bright red. We’ll see.

Thank you for your comment again! :)

Hi Yin,

Thank you for enjoying the beauty-update posts!

You are right that Japanese beauty brands don’t usually do true reds very often (certainly not so many in one collection), so this does seem to be a very special seasonal lineup.

I am liking the new look of Cosme Decorte AQ as well. I’d love to see images of all the palettes soon. Maybe I will decide to pick up one…:)

Thank you for posting your comment again! :)

Hi Kathi,

I was thinking about the Intellectual Eyes range as well when I saw this new palette. Apart from the embossed pattens, the interior palette designs are virtually the same.

At the moment I am curious about the red-toned eyeshadows, but it seems unlikely that Lunasol will come up with colors that are unwearable for most people. I am purely guessing, but perhaps the red shades in the palettes will have different non-red undertones (like brown, gold, or purple perhaps), and I wouldn’t imagine that the reds will be densely pigmented. We’ll certainly know more later on.

Thank you for stopping by my blog again! :)

Hi,
I was just randomly checking the latest information about Lunasol’s 2008 fall palettes, and your blogspot is one of the result.
Kanebe has already put the pics of all the fall colors on their archive.
Here’s the palettes:

Hi Pamela,

Thank you for reading my blog and leaving your comment.

Thank you as well for the links. I am thinking that I might do an update after Lunasol updates its website to include information and images of the fall 2008 collection. I should be including product images from the link you sent me as well.

Thank you again for your comment. Hope to hear from you again! :)
