Paul & Joe released Lip Gloss G a few months ago as part of the brand’s summer 2010 makeup collection. It is available in 10 shades, and today I am highlighting 07 Tangerine.

Tangerine is a sheer red-orange with no shimmer. (Some of the other Lip Gloss G shades do contain shimmer.) One layer of the gloss gives the lips a naturally glossy and juicy sheen. Two or more layers add an jelly-like gloss to the lips. The glossy finish stays on well.

The orange shade is sheer enough to look natural on the lips. With additional layers, the color stays sheer and doesn’t intensify.

The consistency of the gloss is a little more liquidy than that of many of the other glosses I have tried, and it doesn’t feel sticky or heavy.

Like previous lip glossses from Paul & Joe, Lip Gloss G features a brush applicator, which I generally prefer over a sponge applicator. The brush is able to pick up quite a lot of the gloss easily.

The chrysanthemum motifs are embossed onto the tubes of Lip Gloss G, while they were printed onto the tubes of the previous Lip Gloss, Lip GLoss N, and Lip Gloss S. (See my review of Lip Gloss N in 001 Black-Tie.) I like both designs. The embossments look dimensional but understated, and the printed motifs are a little more elaborate and delicate.

Overall, Tangerine is a natural-looking lip gloss with a hint of color. It should suit most complexions and it can go well with warm orange-toned eyeshadows which we have seen quite a lot of this year. Personally I slightly prefer lip glosses with a little bit of shimmer, but I do like Tangerine’s jelly-like glossy finish.
