SUQQU seems to be doing well in the UK. Its first retail point in the UK (at Selfridges London, launched in 2006) is no longer a small counter in the back of the beauty hall (now Beauty Workshop, which is better-organized), and it was launched at Fenwick Bond Street in August. Then, on November 5th, it debuted at Harrods.

SUQQU’s launch at Harrods was slightly surprising to me only because it happened so soon after the Fenwick launch. I visited the Fenwick counter in October and stopped by the Harrods counter a couple of weeks ago. I also had a look at the recently relaunched counter at Selfridges. (It moved to an even more visible position in September. It used to be next to Jo Malone and Kiehl’s for a couple of years.)

In terms of the browsing space, I like the Harrods counter the most. It is in a great position in the beauty hall, it is quite spacious, and it has ample units for displaying products and testers. (Also, the brand’s simple and classy black-and-white look fits the decor of Harrods’ beauty hall perfectly.)

The other two retail points have their strengths as well. If you want a less fanatic retail atmosphere, the Fenwick counter might appeal to you more. The Selfridges counter seems to be the flagship counter as it seems to be better-stocked than the other two. (The Harrods counter didn’t have the blusher I was interested in, and the Fenwick counter didn’t have makeup brushes. Selfridges had both. This was a couple of weeks ago.)

I am now looking forward to seeing SUQQU’s spring 2015 makeup collection (particularly the blushers and the lipsticks). I have a habit of being loyal to one counter when I shop from a particular brand, so I will probably still go to Selfridges. However, I am tempted by Harrods as it is currently the first department store on my central London shopping route……
