Le Couvent des Minimes Loving Care Body Balm The Lotion for Dry Skin Spring 2015 Bodycare 1

.

I first came across Le Couvent des Minimes while reading Biteki a couple of years ago. At the time, the brand wasn’t widely available in the UK, but things have changed considerably since Boots started to carry its products. Part of the L’Occitane Group, Le Couvent des Minimes mainly carries skincare, bodycare and fragrance products. This month, the brand launched Loving Care Body Balm range, and today I am highlighting The Lotion for Dry Skin.

Loving Care Body Balm The Lotion for Dry Skin (400ml, £16) has a creamy consistency and spreads quite easily. It can appear very slightly oily at first, but it is absorbed fairly quickly.

Some of the main moisturizing ingredients in this product are butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter, glycerin, caprylic/capric triglyceride, pentylene glycol, vitis vinifera (grape) seed oil, cetyl palmitate, cetearyl alcohol, glyceryl stearate, cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil and beeswax.

It doesn’t contain alcohol or parabens. It contains fragrance (parfum).

According to the information provided by the brand, the product features fragrance notes from almond, milk, orange blossom and almond blossom and it also contains woody and musky notes. The most obvious note is the orange blossom, but I am also getting hints of jasmine and honeysuckle. I like the fragrance, which reminds me of Marc Jacobs’ Blush (which I love but is sadly discontinued). The fragrance is pronounced and long-lasting, which you might want to bear in mind if you are applying other scented products at the same time.

Overall this is a fairly well-formulated body moisturizer. It is more emollient than Dove Silky Nourishing Body Cream (which is still my daily body moisturizer), and it is working well for this time of year.

The Loving Care Body Balm range also includes The Cream for Very Dry Skin (200ml, £13) and The Ultra Nourishing Salve for Dry Zones (50ml, £8.50, limited edition).
