Kanebo Coffret d'Or Full Smile Eyes 04 Clear Purple Late Summer Early Fall 2014 Makeup 1

I have reviewed 01 Apricot Beige and 03 Bronze Brown from Kanebo Coffet d’Or‘s Full Smile Eyes series, and today I will be sharing my thoughts on 04 Clear Purple.

Kanebo Coffret d’Or Full Smile Eyes in 04 Clear Purple (カネボウ コフレドール フルスマイルアイズ 04 クリアパープル/ 佳麗寶 金炫光燦 燦笑眼影盒 04 Clear Purple, ¥3200) was released in Japan as part of the line’s late summer/ early fall 2014 makeup collection. The five shades in this palette are:

  • porcelain white (upper right), lightly pigmented, softly glowy with subtle shimmer
  • off-white cream (upper left), lightly pigmented, softly shimmery
  • off-white mint green (middle right), lightly pigmented, softly sparkly
  • medium-depth purple, moderately pigmented, with a subtle pearly glow and a hint of shimmer
  • dark gray, moderately-to-intensely (towards intensely) pigmented, velvety with a subtle pearly glow

All the shades have multi-hued light-reflective particles, but none of the shades is too shimmery or too sparkly. They are all easy to apply and blend, and they all have a good staying power.

The porcelain white, the off-white cream and the off-white mint green have different purposes. (Refer to my posts on 01 Apricot Beige and 03 Bronze Brown for more information.) With this variation, I find that the porcelain white (with an almost-moist texture and designed to be used as a base) helps intensify the color of the purple, and the off-white mint green goes surprisingly well with the purple.

The medium-depth purple is a beautiful color, and it is very easy to layer and gradate. Both its color tone and its color depth appeal to me. (It is not too reddish or too blueish for me, and it is a competent shadowing shade for me.) I wasn’t sure if I liked its subtly glowy finish at first, but it quickly grew on me. The elegant and relatively low-key finish adds femininity to the fresh color (which can sometimes look quite bright and vibrant). The color tone of this shade lasts well and doesn’t turn grayish overtime.

The dark gray is dark and pigmented enough to be an effective eyelining shade. The sponge tip designed for this shade is a little too large so I tend to use an eyelining brush to apply this shade.

Overall I really like this palette, and the purple shade is definitely the star of this product. It looks soft and airy without the base shade (the porcelain white) underneath it, and it looks more vibrant when it is layered on top of the base shade. Both looks are very pretty. I am certainly glad that I decided to add this palette to my collection after getting 01 and 03 from the series.
