Kanebo Lunasol will release its fall/winter 2010 base makeup collection in Japan on September 10th. The new items include:

– Water Cream Foundation N (SPF19, PA++, 6 shades)
– Tone-Up Makeup Base (SPF19, PA++)
– Skin Contrast Face Powder (2 shades)

It seems that Water Cream Foundation N will replace Water Cream Foundation and that Skin Contrast Face Powder will replace Micro Finish Powder N. I have been interested in trying Micro Finish Powder N (in 02 Natural Beige) for quite some time (since I wrote this post). I might have to get it soon before it is discontinued……

On the same day, Lunasol will also release new skincare products. They are:

– Fast Skin Adjuster (pre-toner)
– Moist Conditioner (toner)
– Balancing Milk OC/SO (moisturizing milk)
– Wrapping Skin Repair (moisturizing Cream)

3rd: Dior

Dior’s summer 2010 makeup collection is the only collection from a western brand in my top ten for this season. Besides Addicted to Dior, the two 5-Colour Iridescent palettes, 649 Ready-to-Glow and 659 Crush Glow, are also highlights of the collection. (I prefer the warmer Crush Glow (above).)

2nd: Magie Deco

I actually didn’t pay too much attention to Magie Deco’s summer 2010 collection until I saw images of the collection on the official website. I was fascinated by the cheerful and summery (as well as chic and glamorous) Shadow Brilliance II in LC034 Latina Beauty. Interestingly, the color combination looks somewhat similar to that of Dior’s Crush Glow (above), with yellow gold, salmon pink, and chocolate brown.

Lunasol’s summer 2010 collection continues the Nature Purification theme. The two new Nature Color Eyes palettes, EX01 Nature Summer Blue and EX02 Nature Summer Beige, draw inspiration from the hues of the sand and the sea and turn them into shimmery and stunning eyeshadows. The rest of the items in the collection complement the two palettes beautifully, and the peachy-orange items reflect the recent makeup trends.

Kanebo Lunasol will release its fall 2010 makeup collection in Japan on August 20th. The collection features:

– Aurorize Eyes (above, 5 variations)
– Gel Eyeliner (6 shades, brush sold separately)

– Full Glamour Lips S (10 new shades)
– Coloring Cheeks (2 new variations)

Lunasol will also release the following limited-edition items on August 20th:

– Aurorize Nuance Eyes (3 shades)
– Full Glamour Gloss N (3 new shades)
– Nail Finish (3 new shades)

Lunasol hasn’t released any 5-color eye palette series since Geminate Eyes back in fall 2007, and I am sure many Lunasol fans will be looking forward to Aurorize Eyes. I certainly want to see more images of the one with purple and pink. The blue Full Glamour Gloss N is looking good too.

Updated on July 1st 2010:

Here are the images of the five variations of Aurorize Eyes:

(01 Nuance Variation)
(images from www.kanebo-cosmetics.co.jp)
(02 Light Variation)
(03 Gentle Variation)

(04 Soft Variation)

(05 Contrast Variation)

The product photos on the Kanebo website can be a little washed out, and I expect the colors in these palettes to be slightly more vibrant. At the moment, I really like 02 Light Variation, which reminds me of Coral Coral from Lunasol’s spring 2008 collection. All my Lunasol eyeshadow palettes are purple-toned ones, and I have been thinking about getting a neutral one for quite some time. Light Variation looks like a nice neutral palette for me.

04 Soft Variation, the purple-toned one that caught my eye in the beginning, looks more muted than it does in the image at the top (the group photo). I hope the top-left shade will turn out to be more purple-y and less greyish.

You are see more photos of the collection on the blog of the Japanese magazine Very.

Updated on July 8th 2010:

Have a look at some great swatches here.

I am still liking 02 Light Variation and 04 Soft Variation. The violet in 04 Soft Variation may be too blue-toned for me but I still like the palette as a whole.

(image from www.cosmedecorte.com/magiedeco)

Earlier this year, I finally got my first item from Magie Deco (Shadow Brilliance II in Foxy Lady). It didn’t disappoint me, and I will definitely look out for other things to try. For spring 2010, there are blue, green, and purple as well as more soft neutrals. I particularly like
LC033 White Crystal Opal and DC031 Pink Opal. (White Crystal Opal looks a lot warmer in photos in Biteki than it does in the image above.)

2. Lunasol

(image from www.kanebo-cosmetics.jp/lunasol)

I tend to be more excited about Lunasol’s palette series for spring than those for fall, and Nature Color Eyes from the spring 2010 collection is another beautifully colorful range from one of my favorite makeup lines in the last ten years. I like the warmth in 03 Nature Brown and the soft colors in 05 Nature Colorful. (If the liner shade in Nature Colorful were a deep purple, I would probably consider buying it.)
1. Coffret D’Or

(image from www.kanebo-cosmetics.jp/coffretdor)

(image from www.kanebo-cosmetics.jp/coffretdor)

(image from www.kanebo-cosmetics.jp/coffretdor)

Among Coffret D’Or’s purple eye palettes, 3D Lighting Eyes in 04 Purple Variation (from the spring 2008 collection) is my favorite and Jewelcious Eyes in 05 Purple Amethyst from the spring 2010 collection is my second favorite. The tone of the purple in Purple Amethyst suits me well and I like its moderate pigmentation level and pearly shimmer. I also like the case design of this palette series.

The Innocent Color Blush reminds us again that Coffret D’Or is the successor to T’Estimo, which released Pure Layer Blush, a loose-powder blusher, for spring and summer 2007. (The cases look nearly the same.)

As I mentioned before, Coffret D’Or overall appeals to me a lot more than T’Estimo. This collection is one of the many reasons why the line has kept me interested for the last few years.

Lunasol will release a limited-edition Skin Modeling Eyes Starter Kit in Japan on March 12th. Lunasol fans will surely recognize the eye palette in this kit. It is the exceptionally popular Skin Modeling Eyes in 01 Beige Beige.

The Skin Modeling Eyes series was released in spring 2007, and 01 Beige Beige has been so popular that it is constantly out of stock in Japan. This time, the eye palette is paired with a lip palette with four beige-toned shades. The design of the lip palette is reminiscent of Skin Modeling Lips (also part of Lunasol’s spring 2007 collection), but the color combination is different from those of the four palettes released then.

The kit is priced at 5250 JPY, which is the retail price of the eye palette on its own. This makes the kit a really good deal.

Happy Christmas everyone! Today I will conclude my holiday 2009 makeup top 10 countdown.

3. Lunasol

(image from www.kanebo-cosmetics.jp/lunasol)

I really like the white packaging of Lunasol’s Party Coffret 2009. Lunasol usually brings out neutral-toned eyeshadow palettes for the holiday season (which can be a little repetitive for Lunasol fans), so I like the fact that there is a pink shade in this year’s eye palette. The collection also includes other items for the face, lips, and nails.

2. Jill Stuart

(image from jillstuart-beauty.com.tw)

The holiday season is probably the perfect time to indulge in some ultra-prettiness, and Jill Stuart’s Sweetness Collection is more than suitable for the purpose. It is a very pink set, with pink makeup shades as well as pink makeup accessories. The pouch might look a little too frilly for some people, but I personally really like it.

1. Dior

(image from www.dior.com)

Dior has had some good holiday collections over the years, but I think its 2009 holiday collection is among the best. The gorgeous Cristal Boréal includes four Aurore Boréale crystals, which reflect light beautifully and have a nice depth to them. But it is not the only highlight of the collection, as there are some lovely purple-toned and soft neutral-toned eyeshadows. For me, this is a solid and memorable holiday collection from Dior.
