Launched in September, Burberry Body is the brand’s latest fragrances and one of the brand’s biggest product launches. It is positioned by Burberry as a brand launch, not just a fragrance launch. Burberry set out to craft a scent that encapsulates the essence and various facets of the world of Burberry and a scent that carries a sophisticated, classic, modern and iconic aura. The result is Burberry Body.
Top notes: green absinthe, peach, freesia
Middle notes: rose, iris, sandalwood
Base notes: cashmeran, vanilla, amber, musk
This is an intensely floral scent. It starts out as a soft powdery floral, which has a classic old-school feel. The floralness slowly deepens with time, and the drydown remains very floral. Freesia seems to be the most dominant floral note in this creation. The rose, sandalwood, vanilla, and musk notes don’t show up very much on my skin.
Rich, feminine, and glamorous, it has a sensual and seductive boudoir-chic quality. It is certainly more of an evening scent. Personally I would prefer scents that are slightly less floral and powdery, but I think this scent will appeal to those who are looking for warm-toned floral fragrances that are not too sweet.
The fragrance is housed in a tall faceted flacon. I like the contrast between the subtly warm hues (beige, pale gold, and rose gold), which convey a soft and sensual mood, and the angular shape of the flacon, which radiates an assertive and confident energy. The beige outer box of the fragrance echoes the classic Burberry trench coat. The overall look is chic and modern, with elements of femininity and low-key glamour. It is truly very Burberry. I personally think that the story of the packaging reflects the concept of the overall creation more than the fragrance itself (which I feel needs a little more dimension and fragrance note definition).
Burberry Body is available in eau de parfum (35ml, 60ml, and 85ml) and eau de parfum intense (60ml and 85ml, both with a nude suede-finish drawstring pouch). The range also includes a Body Milk (85ml) and Body Oil (85ml).
