Muji Cheek Color Mix Type Pink 1

Two years ago, I wrote about Muji‘s Eye Color (4 Color Type) in Plum 01, which was my first makeup purchase from the brand. I particularly liked the texture of the powder so I thought I might try something else from the makeup range, and I decided to go for Cheek Color Mix Type in Pink.

Cheek Color Mix Type (¥650) is currently available in three variations: Pink, Orange, and Rose. Each variation includes three shades and each shade has a different finish. Pink features three shades of cherry blossom pink. The one on the left has a softly luminous finish, the middle one is minimally pearly, and the one on the right is softly pearly with hints of fine shimmer.

There are several things I like about this blusher. Firstly, the blusher powder is fine and soft, which I was expecting. Secondly, when the three shades are mixed together, the blusher creates a flattering luminous and subtly pearly finish that doesn’t look too pearly or shimmery. Thirdly, its medium-to-cool pink shade suits me well.

I also like the fact that the three shades are all fairly sheer, and I have little fear of over-application when I use this blusher. (If you like more pigmented blushers, you might want to avoid this one. Even for me, I have to layer it two or three times to get the color saturation I want.)

With multi-colored blushers (often with various finishes), I generally don’t mix the colors because I am a little obsessed with having exactly the same color and finish on each cheek. However, I do mix the three colors in this blusher since the three shades and finishes don’t vary that much and since they are all fairly sheer.

With beautifully delicate colors and finishes, this blusher is a gem for me. It shows again that, with Japanese cosmetics, you don’t have to pay a lot of money to get good-quality products.
