Over the years, my tastes in blusher colors and pigmentation levels have gradually diversified, and I am now a lot more open to more vibrant blusher colors and more pigmented blushers. However, even though I do have blushers with a subtly glowy or shimmery finish, I still tend to prefer predominantly matte blushers with little or no shimmer. For me, Canmake‘s Mat Fleur Cheeks is a must-try product, and today I will be reviewing 01 Mat Apricot.

Canmake Mat Fleur Cheeks in 01 Mat Apricot (キャンメイク マットフルールチークス 01 マットアプリコット/ Canmake 花漾戀愛修容組 (霧面) 01, ¥800) was released in fall 2014 (when the Mat Fleur Cheeks range was launched with three variations). It features a light pink (top left and bottom right), a light peach, a medium-depth pink and a cream white. All the shades are softly matte with no shimmer. The powder is soft and it is easy to apply and blend.

The light pink, the medium-depth pink and the light peach are designed to be mixed together. When mixed, they, as a whole, have a light-to-medium pigmentation level and show up as a light-to-medium medium-to-cool pink. (I haven’t used the shades separately.) They create a marshmallow-y matte finish, which I really like. The staying power is fairly good.

The cream white is designed to be applied on top of and over the edges of the blusher shades. When applied as suggested, it makes the overall finish even softer, fluffier and more marshmallow-y. (When I don’t layer it on top of the blusher shades, I use it to highlight the areas underneath the outer corners of the eyes. It looks natural and doesn’t look too white-ish.)

The powder is quite softly pressed, but, since the shades are lightly-to-moderately pigmented, there is little need to worry about over-application.

Overall I am very happy with it, as its pigmentation level, color and finish are all appealing to me. (I prefer it to Glow Fleur Cheeks in 04 Strawberry Fleur (which I do also like), as I really like its softly matte finish.) Among the four variations of Mat Fleur Cheeks (04 Mat Romantic Mauve was released in summer 2015), 01 Mat Apricot, with its medium-to-cool pink, is probably the most wearable one for most people.
