A Splash of Color – Gorgeous Gold

I used to like gold more as a (glamorous and opulent) makeup packaging color scheme than as a shade to be worn. But I have tried a couple of gold-toned eye palettes this summer, and I have been enjoying seeing how various shades of gold can do for my eyes.

It seems that gold will be leading the makeup trend for fall and winter 2008, and I think there will be more dazzling hues of gold all the way through the holiday season.

gold can be so beautiful when worn right. I love a liquid gold highlighter for my cheeks in the summer…so luxe!

Hi Socialitedreams,

A touch of gold highlighter can be very flattering indeed. I think, for many skin tones, gold highlighters can certainly look more natural than off-white ones.

Thank you very much for reading my blog and posting your comment! :)

Hey PJ:

I wonder for a golden splash of color…where is Guerlain?

I mean, personally I think Guerlain, although in a huge gold chunk, is the brand with the prettiest golden package…It’s my mom’s favorite brand when it comes to lipsticks (l loved playing with them when I was little) actually she only wears lipstick and some powder…

YSL is alright too, but I think I have some bad experience about it, ever since seeing a touche éclat (or maybe click-y nail pen) in my mom’s got-it-as-gift-never-used tray…I just have something against built-in applicators, they gross me out…But YSL’s fragrance are definitely lovely.

In the other hand, when it comes the drugstore brands, gold are just…in-your-face yet not delicate enough…not my cup of tea.

Anna Sui in gold, it cute as always , but I think it’s just a bit high-maintenance, the coating scratch off quite easily from the plastic if there is an edge…black is the best consider how many times I’ve dropped the hand mirror to the floor it’s still lovely after a simple wipe…

PS. I will let you know when I am finished with my Anna Sui stuff, it’s 9 down still 3 reviews to go…

Hi Mina,

Oh, no! Guerlain, of course! They certainly do gold packaging very well.

I have two Guerlain lip glosses in gold packaging, which I posted a photo of in a previous post. Also, I have a limited-edition gold Guerlain perfume bottle which I use to house my Guerlain Jardins de Bagatelle refill. It is a very pretty bottle.

Well, I suppose this gives me a perfect excuse to do a Part 2, and I will make sure that my gold Guerlain stash takes center stage!

I agree with you that the gold Anna Sui cases are quite high-maintenance. Most of the time I have the liquid foundation and the stick blusher standing upright on my dressing table to avoid scratching.

Thank you for keeping me updated on the Anna Sui reviews. Take your time, and do let me know when they are finished. :)

Thank you as well for sharing your thoughts again! :)
