On May 22nd, the beauty department in Marks & Spencer‘s Kensington High Street branch in London was relaunched as Your Beauty, which marked the start of the revamp of the store’s beauty departments throughout the UK.

Following the availability of non-M&S-branded products in the food & wine department, the new Your Beauty also carries non-M&S brands, which cover skincare, bodycare, haircare, makeup, and fragrance. These new brands include H2O+, Nuxe, Apivita, Murad, Pürminerals, Chantal Thomass, Les Scenteurs Gourmandes, Philip Kingsley, and Leighton Denny, some of which were not previously available in the UK.

Some existing M&S beauty lines have been revamped as well, and a new skincare & bodycare line, Pure, will be launched.

I went to the new Your Beauty to have a look a few days ago. The decor looked fresh and bright, and the sales assistant was friendly and not pushy. (The photo above is not indicative of the Your Beauty at Kensington High Street, which is smaller.) Marks & Spencer’s own lines were merchandised alongside non-M&S brands in clear sections of the department (skincare, haircare, fragrance,…). Nuxe (a fairly wide selection of products), H2O+, and Les Scenteurs Gourmandes particularly caught my attention.

The launch of Your Beauty reminds me of the possible collaboration between M&S and Sephora reported in 2008. It never materialized, but Your Beauty could be the result of the store-in-store concept that M&S had been exploring since then.

Your Beauty will be gradually rolled out in 100 M&S stores throughout the UK in the next 12 months. It will also be launched in M&S flagship stores in the Czech Republic and Poland later this year.

If you can’t wait to see Your Beauty in your local M&S,  all the products are now available on-line at www.marksandspencer.com.
