Releases like this do make me think that time flies. It doesn’t seem that long ago when Lunasol celebrated its 10th anniversary, and the celebratory collection at the time featured a makeup palette with the brand’s best-selling eyeshadow palette, Skin Modeling Eyes in 01 Beige Beige. In 2014, the brand reaches another milestone and will release its 15th anniversary makeup collection in Japan on February 11th. The collection includes:

15th Anniversary Makeup Palette (limited edition, ¥10500)

The palette features:

– 15th Anniversary Eyes (further notes below)
– High Stylize Mascara SV in 01 Clear Black
– 15th Anniversary Cheeks in EX01 Pink Beige
– 15th Anniversary Liquid Lips in EX01 Pink Beige
– Micro Finish Pressed Powder N in EX01 Sheer Beige (SPF 15, PA+, with puff)

The 15th Anniversary Eyes palette features (from left to right):

– Shining Color (from Party Eyes 2010 from Party Coffret 2010 (from holiday 2010))
– Sheer Mat Highlight
– Modeling Highlight (from Skin Modeling Eyes in 01 Beige Beige)
– Nuance Color
– Medium Color
– Shade Color

15th Anniversary Base Makeup Kit (limited edition, ¥8925)

The kit includes:

– Skin Modeling (Water Cream, Liquid, or Powder) Foundation (any shade, full-size)
– Control Base (either shade), Watery Makeup Base, or Smoothing Makeup Base N (full-size)
– Concealer (1.3g)
– Skin Contrast Face Powder in 01 (3.5g)
– Original Concealer Brush
– Original W Pouch

(The price of the kit will be higher if Skin Modeling Powder Foundation is chosen as it is more expensive than the other two options.)

Apart from Skin Modeling Eyes in 01 Beige Beige (it was released in 2007 and I decided to try it a couple of years ago), here is a look back at the Lunasol items I got in the last five years:

Layer Bloom Eyes in 03 Purple Gradation (spring 2009)

Aurorize Eyes in 02 Light Variation (fall 2010)

Ocean Scene Eyes in EX01 Shelly Ocean (summer 2011)

Modeling Cheeks in EX01 Soft Pink (fall 2011)

In the last few years, some beauty lines, such as Benefique, Integrate, and Visée, moved towards a more youthful and girlie image and we also saw the birth of the ultra-princessy Les Merveilleuses de Ladurée. While I do like the looks of these lines, it is great to see that Lunasol has been staying true to its classy and sophisticated image. What has been evolving is the consistently high quality of the products, which is always among the best in the field. I look forward to more exciting things from the brand in the years to come.

Happy 15th anniversary, Lunasol!
