I have reviewed Sana Excel‘s Skinny Rich Cheek in RC01 Pink Nectar and RC02 Pure Peach, and today I will be sharing my thoughts on RC03 Rose Peony. (Here, “skinny” (“スキニー”) means “skin-like” or “skin-tonal”.)
Sana Excel Skinny Rich Cheek in RC03 Rose Peony (サナ エクセル スキニーリッチチーク RC03 ローズピオニー/ Sana Excel 絲緞光漾腮紅 RC03 牡丹玫粉, ¥1500) was released in Japan in spring 2016 (when the Skinny Rich Cheek range was launched with three shades (in RC01 Pink Nectar, RC02 Pure Peach and RC03 Rose Peony)). (Then, RC04 Shell Coral was released in Japan in spring 2017.) It is a medium-toned rose pink with an above-medium pigmentation level, and it has a softly glowy finish with a hint of multi-hued shimmer. It is very easy to apply and blend, and it has a very good staying power.
It is easy to layer to increase the color intensity and vibrancy, and the vibrancy of the color lasts well. You will need to be light-handed with it if you want to create a softer and subtler look.
In the pan, this shade looks slightly darker and cooler (more pink-toned) than RC01 and RC02. It does go on slightly darker than the other two shades, but its pink tone can turn a little reddish on me over time.
I was expecting to like RC03 more than RC01 and RC02, but I think I like the three of them more or less the same. I do need to be careful about RC03 as I can quite easily over-apply it. Also, even though the shade looks natural on me, I wish it looked slightly more pinkish than reddish.
