I have been interested in Addiction since its launch in fall 2009, but, product-wise, the new Cheek Stick from the brand’s summer 2011 makeup collection has caught my eye the most. Designed mainly as blushers, the eight available shades can also be used as eyeshadows and lipsticks. (Some of them can also be used for highlighting and contouring.)

.

I like Rose Bar (third from right, used on model) and Amazing (second from right), but I think Rose Bar might be slightly too warm and that Amazing might be a little too cool. Like Esprique’s Blend Dimensional Eyes, I am waiting to see if more shades will be released.

2nd: Paul & Joe

.

I like the limited-edition light-blue packaging for the items in Paul & Joe’s summer 2011 L’Horizon Bleu makeup collection. It echoes the fresh colors in the lineup. The new Eye Gloss Duo B (limited edition) and Eye Gloss Duo feature a shimmery shade and a lighter and sparklier shade.

I have got my Lip Gloss B in 001 L’Horizon Bleu, which I will be featuring next week.

.

1st: Lunasol

.

It is the winning formula that Lunasol has been using for the last few years for its summer makeup collections: two eyeshadow palettes, one neutral and the other more colorful, with coordinating items for lips and nails. The new Ocean Scene Eyes palettes in Lunasol’s summer 2011 makeup collection also feature limited-edition cases .

I am thinking about getting Ocean Scene Eyes in EX01 Shelly Ocean. If I do get it, I will definitely be sharing my thoughts with you!

Lunasol’s items do indeed look good. But I have so many colourful eyeshadows I don’t wear lately as I’m more at work than at university (where you can wear whatever you want as long as you can take people staring at you or making snarky remarks), and the neutral palette looked too warm for me on a swatch I saw somewhere. :(

Those cheek sticks look like their shape will make it a bit difficult to apply to the cheeks, don’t they?

I hope you’re having a nice Sunday, and one that’s not too hot. I’m melting here in Germany. ^^;

Hi Julia,

Sorry for my late reply. (I hope you had a good weekend too.)

Lunasol’s Ocean Scene Eyes in EX01 Shelly Ocean seems to have the right level of warmth for me, and I am looking forward to trying it.

I do generally prefer powder-based blushers partly because they are very easy to apply. I think the best way to apply Cheek Sticks is probably to draw a few short lines across the cheek areas and blend them with fingers. (If the product glides very smoothly on the skin, then the application and the blending should hopefully not be too difficult……)

(The weather in the UK hasn’t been very warm. I hope it will get a lot warmer!)

Thank you very much for stopping by again! :)

I really like the Paul & Joe summer collection. I brought two of the lipglosses (01 and 02) the moment they came online on ASOS, (they had an early exclusive) I think I must have been the first order! I’m not sure if I’ll buy anything else from the collection though.

You’ve convinced me to try blue lipglosses and I think they’ll be pretty handy for layering over certain colours. In case you’re interested, L’Oreal has one in their summer collection called Aqua Curacao. MAC also has a lipstick called “Summer Shower” that will launch with the Fashion Flower collection (although I’m not sure if it will come to the UK). It seems to be very sheer on swatches and give the same effect as the lipgloss.

Also, is the Lunasol item on the top right-hand corner a blush? It looks very pretty. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the Paul & Joe collection.

Hi Leila,

Yes, the Lunasol item on the top-right corner is indeed a blusher (Coloring Cheeks in EX02 Clear Coral Pink). It does look very lovely!

I hope you are enjoying trying different blue lip glosses. I have just posted about Paul & Joe’s L’Horizon Bleu, L’Oréal’s Aqua Curaçao, and YSL’s Icy Effect (http://www.atouchofblusher.com/2011/06/beautiful-lips-with-blue-lip-glosses-summer-2011-edition.html). Do have a look! :)

(Paul & Joe’s Lip Gloss B in 002 Swept Away looks really good as well. I very nearly decided to get it too.)

I will certainly be on the lookout for MAC’s Summer Shower. The swatches I have seen do look good!

Thank you for stopping by again! :)
